It's been nearly thirty years since I've read this, and it's amazing which details linger.

Their old shoes were in the attic, arranged neatly by size in a row. As if they'd ever need them again.

carol. I haven't dared to re-read in the last twenty years. Loved it too much.

lucky little cat Yes, exactly so. And if it left that big an impression when I was younger, I'm not sure I'm tough enough to read it again now that I've lived through so much more. It should be sold marked Animal Dreams: Not for Sissies*

*pretty sure I'm a sissy.

Claudia Putnam Is this the one w the hot Native American boyfriend? That was lame of her....white women and their fantasies about Indian men.

carol. I don't remember, TBH. But why would you add it then, Claudia?

Claudia Putnam I read it years ago. I kind of clicked want to read by accident and the only way to fix it was to click read. Which is true.

Claudia Putnam I read her up through Lacuna, which essentially plagiarized Frida, or at least repeated that book without saying anything new, and romanticized a mass murderer. That was it for me.

carol. Interesting. It's showing up as 'want to read.'

lucky little cat Yep, it's showing up as "want-to-read" from here too. You might want to adjust that.
