Maybe someday I'll forget that I read a sorry piece of literature where the writer tried to poetise cheating, but today I'm so pissed that I'm gonna rant to my heart's content.
Ms. Mary Sue Sydney can't decide if she should feel guilty about carrying on with Ridge while he's in a relationship with someone else or revel in her new found love. Inspite of repeatedly dissing her bestfriend for sleeping with her ex. Hypocrite much?
Ridge can't decide if he should stay with his girlfriend of 5 years or take up with a girl he met weeks ago. Apparently both of them are two halves of his pathetic heart. This guy is the very definition of fickle.
I can't decide who I hated more in this fucked up love triangle.
Maggie was wise enough to dump Ridge's sorry ass when she came to know of his "unintentional" cheating. And Sydney was only happy to take him back even though she knew she wasn't his first choice. These two deserved each other, what with both of them being cut from the same shitty cloth and all. Also, Warren singing extremely different tunes to Sydney got on my nerves. What exactly did she do to inspire his instant loyalty?
And that sappy ending made me cringe. Ughh.
I hated this book with everything in me. I despised the poorly written cardboard characters, the cloying bullshit songs and weaker-than-sydney's-will promises, the insipid romance and the two timing asshole protagonist.
Why doesn't Goodreads have a 0 star rating? Just why??

Carolyn This book was AWFUL.

peachygirl Carolyn wrote: "This book was AWFUL."

Wasn't it? I wasted 2 days reading this one and it's god awful sequel. I wish I could just wipe Sydney's whining and Ridge's stupid songs from my head!!

I do remember that mind-numbing annoyance this book evoked in me! Hope your next read is better than this crap :)

Nadine Frances I totally agree with you!!!!

I was hopeful when I was reading the first few chapters and even checked the OST of the book. Hated that I finished this book. Cheating is cheating!!!

Thank you, Nadine. And I hoped it would get better too, maybe a bit of redemption for Ridge, but the ending sucked. Justifying cheating is the worst thing CoHo could have done!

Adi Rocks Socks "sorry piece of literature where the writer tried to poetise cheating" -- this is exactly why I have always stayed away from this book despite Goodreads recommending it to me ALL the time. Well written review! :) We need zero star ratings!

This was my CoHo book and it completely put me off. Not sure if I'll ever read any of her other works. And yes, Maggie was the only decent character in this book. I felt really bad for her.:/

Hemoshree Chatterjee I totally agree with you! Honestly I feel CoHo is a good writer but she is overrated and overhyped! I have read better!

peachygirl Hemoshree wrote: "I totally agree with you! Honestly I feel CoHo is a good writer but she is overrated and overhyped! I have read better!"

I haven't read any of her other works to judge her writing. But even in this one, I thought it was unnecessarily sappy.

Carolyn You summed up everything I was thinking. Selfish, foolish, narcissistic characters!

gabs ohmygod you are my QUEEN. I literally cannot understand how everyone else collectively agreed to literally move pas Ridge cheating. Maggie deserved better and I honestly would’ve liked this book if it was about them and not Sydney, I literally am so scared of relationship because of backstabbing whores like Tori and Sydney. I cannot believe how they tried to justify their kiss because it was “in the moment” please it sounds pathetic, CoHo really stepped low on this book. Romanticizing cheating for them and making Hunter and Tori look like trash was so not okay. And it would’ve been have decent if they hadn’t at least kissed, I was really rooting for them honestly. I just hate how CoHo made it seem like it was okay that they kissed because love “has no boundaries” like yes the fuck it does.

Haha, thanks.
Characters like Tori and Sydney make me wanna punch something too. And even before the kiss, Ridge was emotionally cheating on poor Maggie. I hatedddd him so much, ughhh 😐

Luffy Sempai Well reviewed! This kind of idea doesn't have its place in a book. In an Indian 'romantic comedy' perhaps. Great rant :)

Zita YESSS!! I AGREE WITH YOU 100% They were so irritating that I had to stop for breaks to calm myself. I just hate Sydney and Ridge too much! And I also didn't understand why Waren became so nice to her like wtf? Like she was "innocent"?! 🤨 And funny that Sydney always was like : how much it hurted that they did that to me ( Hunter and Tori) but she did the same🙃🔫

That Warren thing was never properly explained. And Sydney 's hypocrisy made me want to punch her repeatedly 😑

Bumble.Bees.Books I disagree, I think that sometimes those kind of situations just happen. You find the person you’re supposed to be with and sometimes things happen, it’s not like they had sex and we’re just blatantly lying about everything. Maggie knew exactly what was going on all parties did in my opinion.

lol no, cheating is not just about sex. Even before he kissed the other girl, he was emotionally cheating on his girlfriend. And saying "sometimes things happen" is just a pathetic excuse for cheating on one's SO.

message 33: by Sidd (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sidd What they did shouldn't be excused but I think the perspective is the best thing in the book. I have never read a book about people who are deaf and difficultys they go through and their pov. The greatest books will make you feel a roller-coaster of emotions.

I have read better ones with disability representation. To each his/her own, I guess.

Nishat Thanks. I stumbled upon this book somehow and someone had written a glowing review of it. I was seriously thinking about giving it a go when, thankfully, I stumbled (again) upon your review and have shelved the plan to read the book. That was a lot of stumbling for a day in any case. Thanks:-)

Luciana Palacio "Two halves of his pathetic heart" couldnt agree more. It was an endless book, frustrating and extremely boring. Warren is so hypocrite, he's yelling at Sydney if she wants a fuck then proceed to hug her and said she's a good person that deseverd better? Man, are you okay? If I could give this story a 0⭐️, I would.

Goodreads should definitely add 0 star rating ✋

Andrea Fleury I'm reading this and I love it. My heart is hurting for all of them. With every single book Colleen has written they all are so different.

Agreed! I'm about halfway through and it's infuriating.

peachygirl Miranda wrote: "Agreed! I'm about halfway through and it's infuriating."

Then I'd suggest you dump this and read something worth your time. Trust me, it doesn't get better. In fact the ending will make you want to punch the protagonists!
