it was ok
bookshelves: young-adult, dystopia

I still remain partly damaged.

A little epilogue following the aftermath of Allegiant, five years after.

Was this ‘book’ really necessary? I’m not sure. Many say everything here was slightly implied in the ending of Allegiant. I didn’t see it.

Part of me is grateful because this indeed mended a part of me that was left severely damaged after the ending of Allegiant. Another part of me is repulsed by the fact that I hear this little addition was offered only exclusively for those who preordered the first book of Roth’s new series ‘Carve the Mark’, with the intent to boost sales. What a dick move.

Anyway. It’s a total wild card, it may even deepen the wound. Read at own risk.

PERSONAL NOTE :

★★★☆☆ 0.1-0.4 Four
★★★★★ 1. Divergent
★★★☆☆ 1.5 Tobias Tells the Divergent Knife-Throwing Scene
★★★★☆ 2. Insurgent
★★☆☆☆ 2.5 The Path to Allegiant [1.5]
★★★★☆ 3. Allegiant
★★☆☆☆ 3.5 We Can Be Mended [2.5]

-----------------------------------------------

No estoy seguro.

Leer a riesgo propio.

Crazy but yes, both indeed :x . Thank you Alexandra :) !

Thibault Busschots Have to admit, it's a smart marketing trick to add this to the pre-orders of the first book of a new series. Though from a reader's perspective it's indeed not very nice. Fair review, Federico.

Thank you Thibault! That's the thing, as a reader I don't want to be 'tricked' into a new series I may have no interest in. I think ultimately what's wrong here is the exclusively part. If Roth had posted this on her website or sth and offered it also as a gift with the preorder of her new book, that would have looked very decent and a nice touch from her. Instead she does it the exclusively way, and just looks like a pitiful money grab. It's sad really.

Thank you Inci! Well I still have to review the 'Four' prequel books but I'm not feeling up to it. Might do after returning from my vacations xD

Thank you so much Tina <3 ! We have so many friends and reviews to read each day. I try to keep it as short and direct as I possibly can xD

Well I'm not proud to say it Becs but since I didn't want to start and finish a new series just to read it I got it from one of those not so legit book hosting sites.

Anne Nice review, Federico! I loved the Divergent series until the ending of book 3. I'm still not over it. It broke my trust in the author and I've not read anything else.

Thank you Anne! After the repercussions of book 3 doubt she'd pull the same card again, like, ever! But yeah I can understand that, I too haven't read anything else by her since that day and not really looking forward to it neither; but may, someday xD

message 30: by Connie (new)

Connie Maybe I'll skip this novel whenever I start the series, thanks for the heads up. Great review, Federico.

message 31: by Ron (new)

Ron I kick myself a little for not continuing this series. I think I jumped into the Hunger Games and got caught up in that at the time. Judging from your 2 stars, the author should have left it alone.

Federico DN Coco wrote: "Maybe I'll skip this novel whenever I start the series, thanks for the heads up. Great review, Federico."

Maybe skip #3 altogether lol, it's not a very well received ending to the series. Thank you Coco :) !

Maybe it was for the best Ron! Sometimes it's better to quit while you are ahead. This is truly a very ill received epilogue. Most people hate it intensely, but it worked for me, a little :p

Yes it has a surprisingly low number of ratings O.o, but I guess it's for the better, most people seem to hate it anyway lol.

So many people hate this book so much I don't want to take any responsibility on it lol. Thank you Rachel! It wasn't the best ending for the series but still one of the greatest overall <3

Left Coast Justin Just a quick note to point out the author herself probably had no say in the way the books are sold and marketed. Unless she's a mega-level superstar.

Federico DN Left Coast Justin wrote: "Just a quick note to point out the author herself probably had no say in the way the books are sold and marketed. Unless she's a mega-level superstar."

Point taken! Although I think after publishing the third book in this wildly acclaimed bestseller trilogy she was already a mega-level superstar; but it's debatable, and I don't care enough to investigate her trajectory, or any other author's bio for that matter, I just read books lol :p
