Casey Let me know if you think this gives a good cross-section of Ballard's work. Been interested in reading his novels but haven't pulled the trigger on any of them. Always enjoy collections as they give you a broad picture of a writer's style.

Kris I love this book! Ballard’s creativity is astounding. And yes, many of the stories work out ideas that are later expanded in his novels. Highly recommended.

Kris Pretty much all the short stories in this book that I’ve read so far have been science fiction, because he wrote them in the 50s and 60s and sold them to the genre magazines of the time. I know some of his novels are not science fiction, so in that way it might not show you his full range. But the book includes work up until the 90s so I don’t know what’s coming up. Regardless, I recommend this and his novels.
