3.5 Dirty Bad Wrong Stars!



So I'll let you in on a little secret. If I come across a WARNING like this one...

This book is exactly what it says on the tin. It’s Dirty, it’s Bad, and some readers may find it very, very Wrong. It contains a lot of sex, a LOT, and a collection of sexual practices that some readers may well find offensive. The novel is entirely consensual, but please use your own discretion. Most definitely 18+ only. IF YOU DON’T LIKE READING ABOUT DIRTY BAD WRONG SEX THEN PLEASE WALK ON BY. ...yeah, it's pretty much a guarantee that I am gonna read the book! And after reading it, I can confirm that it is indeed the most aptly titled book, maybe ever!!

HOLY SHIT!!! I read my fair share of smut, but I have never ever read in depth portrayals of at least two of the acts that went down in this book. And as much as it had me wanting to run for the hills and be like "What? Eww.. Ouch, dude!", I still gotta give it to the girl, she wrote them very tastefully. I think these shock value sex scenes were about as hot and steamy as these particular acts could be written. Oh! And everything in this book was TOTALLY consensual!! Both parties were extremely satisfied at the end so you know, I say... fuck and be happy! To each their own! ;)





I know everyone reviews differently, but for me, a 3.5 star rating does not mean that I didn't like a book. In fact, I did like this book a lot.

The good stuff:

Lydia and James are office colleagues. Lydia just had her heart broken by her two timing skeez ball of an ex-boyfriend. James comes across her at the office and finds her in a weak moment when she is actually crying. And James, being a closet-sadist, has a thing for tears. He's instantly attracted to her but has been burned badly before by office romances so has sworn to himself never to shit where he eats again...huh? Oh God no...they didn't do THAT!!! It's just an expression!! LOL!!

Meanwhile, Lydia's roommate, Bex, takes her to a very elite sex club as a guest where she is instantly enamored by on of the patrons she sees putting on a scene, Masque. Masque is into hardcore BDSM. Pain is the drug that he delivers and tears are all the he wants in return. After just one scene where Lydia plays the voyeur, she is completely fascinated. Lydia has a history of cutting so pain is not an unknown thing to her.

This book is hot as hell!!! It's intense. And it's still strangely romantic as well. My problems were the fact that a couple of story lines were introduced and then, never referenced again. And they were things that genuinely had my attention. Like the cutting habit of Lydia's that I mentioned as well as whatever happened with the character Katreya that was mentioned more than a few times.

It was really frustrating because, I picked the book up for some mindless smut but soon realized that this chick could really write and this had all of the ingredients for a very kick ass story. The execution just wasn't there.

Additionally, I was totally fine with the shock value sex scenes but there was very little intimacy to balance them out, that I really needed from these characters.

In the end, the whole office/ forbidden romance thing came back into play...you know, the kind where everyone in the office is silently watching.



I absolutely loved James and loved that in the end, he really didn't care if he was appearing too vulnerable for Lydia. Swoon!! And this guy was all man, alpha, dirty talking, but wounded and protective too. LOVED HIM!!

All in all, strong debut from an author that I know I will be watching. Very tasteful and well-written portrayal of some extremely gratuitous sex acts that are not easy to pull off without massively turning off your reader and disconnecting them from the story. Oh, and I loved Jade's message in the end where she shared with the readers that she is in the lifestyle herself. It shows that she knew what she was talking about.

I really enjoyed this one. Just please, wrap up all your plot lines next time!! ;)
