H-H-H-H-H-H-H-HOLY SHHHHHHHIIIIIT!

THE TWISTS! THE TURNS! THE CONSPIRACIES! THE BETRAYALS!

THEY ALL FUCKING BUUUUUURN

MY HEART CAN'T TAKE IT

I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO THINK

I DO NOT KNOW WHO TO TRUST

IS THERE SOMEONE PLOTTING AGAINST ME TOO

*eyes shift to father*

*eyes shift to mother*

*eyes shift to brothers*

*eyes shift to grandmother*

Curious..... very curious indeed....

*eyes shift to dog*

Okay, you're cool, dog. I doubt you even know what I'm talking about.

BUT CRAAAAAAP

This. Book. Is. AWESOME.

This. Book. Is. INTELLIGENT.

This. Book. Is. DEVASTATING.

This. Book. blowseveryotheryafantasybooksoutofthewaterbecausetheyaremediocre.

Yes. I say it. THEY'RE MEDIOCRE. Compared to this baby.

Complex. Dark. Bittersweet. Gritty. Merciless.

Definitely no-nonsense. No fucking candy romance. No mary sues. No gary sues. No cop outs. No deus ex machina. All human affairs in its dark glory.

AKA: YA Fantasy at its very finest <3 <3 <3

FINAL VERDICT: 100000/5 STARS

message 6: by Colin (new) - rated it 2 stars

Colin .... looks like it's time for me to give Joe Abercrombie another chance ahahahah

Dear Faye I LOVED his First Law Trilogy. Haha. I had my doubts when I saw he wrote for YA, but frack I need to stop doubting and start trusting <3 You can never go wrong with him (along with Brandon Sanderson!) when it comes to fantasy :D

message 8: by Colin (new) - rated it 2 stars

Colin Oh yeah, I've seen your reviews haha, sadly the First Law trilogy wasn't for me :/ Pretty much DNF'd the first book..... but I'm willing to give this book a chance! And of course, Brandon Sanderson is freaking awesome ;D

Rashika (is tired) I"VE ALWAYS BEEN THE TRAITOR FAYE.
YOU JUST NEVER KNEW

Dear Faye *puts poison in your brownies*

Dre You and Rashika are hilarious!

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol, your first Joe Abercrombie experience, I take it?

Dear Faye Nope :) I read his First Law Trilogy.

message 16: by Tandie (new) - added it

Tandie I've got this. Need to catch up on ARCs a bit first. You asked once if I had a blog. I just started on Wordpress & kinda don't know what I'm doing. It's rough & I hate the layout. When I try to change it or crop pictures, it doesn't work on my iPad. I think that I need to try it on our computer.

Dear Faye Woot! I can't wait to see your insights, Tandie!

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

I COULD NOT AGREE MORE!

Dear Faye Super awesome, isn't it XD I can't wait for Half a World. Joe said it should be more adult-y as the people are older.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Hells yeah! I'm super psyched!!

message 21: by Lisa (new) - added it

Lisa *eyes shift to dog* Hahahha. Love this!

message 22: by Baz (new) - added it

Baz Faye, you read all the books that I seem to have great interest in :P
(Referring to Tower Lord)
I have to ask haha which one did you enjoy more?

Dear Faye It's hard to tell! They're all so different :P But I recently read the Stormlight Archive series by Brandon Sanderson (2 out of 10 books planned) and I have to say they were the best I've ever, ever, ever, EVER read...

message 24: by Baz (new) - added it

Baz Wow, I didn't want to read those books till maybe more have come out. But people keep telling me they're "SO GOOD READ THEM". Sigh, Im going to give in :(

message 25: by Baz (new) - added it

Baz Oh and how old is Yarvi?

Dear Faye You really have to give in! If you want Baz, you can join me and many others in our Brandon Sanderson Cosmere Read-Along (the Cosmere being the universe where 4 of his series are in, so there's a story hidden behind the stories~). We'll be touching WoK, and many of his other books, and discussing them weekly on Twitter~

http://thesocialpotato.maryfaye.net/2...

To be honest I've quite forgotten how old he was but he's definitely in his teens. In the sequel of this one, he should be in his twenties or something.

message 27: by Baz (new) - added it

Baz Holy crap, that is genius. "I was therefore a great surprise when I discovered these books were all actually set in the same universe". I've been planning a book that I'm writing and I've thought about the concept of a epic fantasy story being connected beyond the world they live and how to connect it in some way. If Sanderson has done it, kudos to him.

Due to time constraints I can't commit to the read along but if I do get time I'll definitely try and read his books.

Thanks for your awesome reviews, I'm following you now and hope to see more of them in the future.

message 28: by Brigid (new)

Brigid Not the dog Faye! ;p

Dear Faye HAHAHAHA! But but but his eyes keep looking at me! Very suspicious....

Tanja (Tanychy) Damn. I cannot wait to read this now!

message 31: by Valerie (new)

Valerie hahahahaah OK I WILL ADD THIS TO TBR. I don't think I've ever seen you get crazy excited through a review, THIS MUST MEAN SOMETHING

Dear Faye YESSSS! Valerie, I swear you'll see YA Fantasy redefined ;)

message 33: by Hersh (new) - rated it 3 stars

Hersh FANTASTIC REVIEW! I so need to read this asap!

message 34: by Tom (new)

Tom recently finished this and loved it, but I found it difficult to accept that "spoiler" could function as king at the end, considering how traumatised and mad he was.

message 35: by Nenia (new)

Nenia Campbell I lost it at *eyes shift to dog*

You're so funny! XD

Ausra Kovas Your review is spot on! I devoured this book.

message 37: by Juzefa (new)

Juzefa Yep, this one review convinced me to give it a go
