The writing style was excellent and though it was a little underdeveloped character wise the story and themes shone through. I was so excited when I saw that this series was getting a continuation and this did not dissapoint. The politics were top notch the characters and their journeys were perfect. I believe that this is my second favorite book in the series now! I think Fire will always be my favorite but this is a very close second. The new continent was fascinating and intricate and seeing Bitterblue again was obviously lovely. I cannot recommend this enough if you are a fan of the original three books....more

I am so glad I finally was able to pick up this final book in this duology, I know that Dhonielle Clayton is planning a spin off book which I am very excited for but I found this conclusion to be a lot of fun and satisfying. While I still think I enjoyed book one slightly more I really loved finally seeing the slow burn romance come to a resolution as well as seeing how our characters were going to survive this villainous world. This book, while fanciful and entertaining always surprises me with how dark it is willing to go. I am very excited to read more in this world once the spin off is released and I am intrigued to see what else Clayton has in store. ...more

It had an extremely unique world and premise, flawed yet powerful female characters, and a plot filled with twists and turns. This book also did not shy away from violence or from being mean to it's character which I really loved. I cannot recommend Race The Sands highly enough. The magic system was unique and fleshed out, the characters were loveable and intriguing, and the romance was excellent. I cannot wait for book two! The only reason this wasn't give stars is that the middle was a little slow for me but that aside I am so into this series....more
