“Some loves are like the tide. Like water washing over you then slipping through your fingers. They come and they go. They come and they go.”

“Waves are like friends. Some are big and bold, some not so much. Others come to greet you, while still there are those you have to chase. There are those which are deceiving, as they look good in the beginning, but will betray and crush you in the end. It’s truly hard to know the perfect wave. Only when you are within its folds do you realize it was either a good or bad decision on your part. By that point, it’s either too late or just right.”

“You must feel the rustle of the leaves. You must feel the rumble of the clouds. The flowers sing their own songs. The bees create their own rhythm. The waves serenade with distinct notes. The breeze captivates in its own chords. And the moon mesmerizes in her own melodies. You must understand the symphony of nature.”

“The night sky was clear, but he drew clouds across it, combers that roiled like waves above him.”
― Arms from the Sea

“In the small hours of a cold February dawn, Justin and I walked to the Pacific, high cliffs eroding over the ocean, crashed and crashed by lapping salty waves. Their spray misted us in day’s young purple air, exhilarating. Walking the Golden Gate Bridge, our world receding, pale gold sunrise lit thin fog, morning coloring us like a faded fairy tale.”

“Look at the waves on the shore! They are passionate until they reach the shore, and then, passion ends! When you reach the target, that strong fire which took you to the target extinguishes!”
―

“What is the mission of the wave in the ocean? It is to angrily explain that the ocean is not a lake!”
―
―
“Spending a lot of evenings watching sunsets near the ocean, I have observed crabs dart out from the sand. And just when the waves come ashore to drown and pull them away into the water, they dig and hide inside the sand. It has always been fascinating for me to observe the crabs.”
―
―
“The greatest pleasure of the wave is to bring the stones to the beach and then try to get them back into the sea! Everyone and everything has a toy to play with!”
―
―
“If you wait for a giant wave to be gentle with everything in its path, or for a tiny wave to crush whatever on its way, you'll be waiting forever!”
―
―
“I am the waves of the ocean, and I am always in love with the floating white clouds. I sing along with the wind and dance along with your thoughts and imaginations.”
―

“How beautiful it is to swim in the tank!” He said after a while. “The water is so serene. And yet, when one thinks of it, the sea is no less impressive, when a thousand billows beat against the earth and still do it no injury.”
― The Thugs & a Courtesan

“And then the sea, bright and unreal as a painting. She's never seen so many shades of blue" gleaming turquoise near the breakers; further out, a blue so dark it's almost black. Lucy shivers, thinking of the world beneath the spangled waves.
The coastline curves around, so that she can see the cliffs on the other side of the bay, honeycombed with caves. Devil's Lookout. It's the same view she's seen already, on Jess's postcard, but the photographer hadn't quite captured the eeriness of the cliff face. In person, the caves look deeper and darker; one in particular, closest to the waterline, is large enough that she can almost imagine a demon lurking there, surveying the sea below.
A prickle starts at the base of Lucy's spine. Maybe it's the knowledge of what the water would do to her skin. She imagines the waves lapping at her like tongues, stripping her of flesh until she is nothing but bone, gleaming white.
Or perhaps it's the podcast; the thought of all those missing men, presumed drowned. But with the prickling fear there's a strange pull, too. Lucy struggles to tear her gaze from the bright waves, mesmerized by the way they curl over the shore. A part of her wants to get closer, to feel spindrift on her face, slick rock beneath her palms.”
