“When Crystal May woke up the next morning, she felt like she'd died and gone to heaven. She rolled over on her back, her sleepy eyes blinking in the sunlight. The window curtains were frilly and feminine, softening the light and making her feel protected from the world outside. It was mighty late, but she didn't care. Just lying there in the warm, golden light made her feel so good. She was safe here. She could feel it right down to her bones.”

Thanks Mia! My personal favorites are HOUSE ARREST and CRYSTAL & GOLD. But the one most popular with readers is probably BURNING INNOCENCE!

Rosie ♀️ Hi Carol, Thank you for the friend request, and I look forward to reading most of your books.

Tracey Thanks for the friend request! I wouldn't say I'm doing a comparison between Moby Dick (it's the Big Read, have you heard about it? Lots of fun), but it's a great idea...

Thank you for being my friend.

message 22: by Emma

Emma Hi Lily,

Thanks for the add - love the Barbara Taylor Bradford quotes. Am a big fan of the Emma Harte Series, I've lost count of the number of times I've read that series. Just working my way through it again so I can read the 7th book. I think the Ravenscar trilogy is going to be the next set I read. Are there any others you've really enjoyed?

message 21: by Trish

Trish Hi Lily,
Thanks for the recommendation of "Love for Lydia". I enjoy H E Bates, a author who sadly seems to have gone out of fashion. Quite hard to get hold of him in NZ, but whenever I see one of his novels in a second-hand shop I always grab it. Did so recently only to find it was one of the Larkin novels, which I have bound as a single and have read. They are a little out of his normal style, but still eminantly readable. Will certainly look out for "Love for Lydia". Thank you.
Trish

message 18: by Audrey

Audrey Thanks, Lily! :) I saw that you read (and loved) Miss Drayton's Downfall, too. Clearly, we are meant to be friends.

Danielle The Book Huntress No problem, Lily. I love Lady Sophia's Lover. Great book. Oh, yes. Huge CS Lewis fan here. I think you know how much I love Kleypas already.

message 16: by Valerie

Valerie Welcome aboard. I haven't done a thorough check of how much overlap we have in our books, but you'll likely receive updates.

I've just added a doctoral dissertation from St Andrews' College about Archbishop Stigand, who was court chaplain to Anglo-Saxon kings from Cnut (usually spelt 'Canute' in English) up until 1070. I'm finding it interesting, but I obviously need more background info, for I'm not getting some of the 'as everyone knows...' references.

Elizabeth (Liz) Lily - Thank you for the friend invite! Look forward to seeing you around GR:)
