I Ignacio and thank you so much - I was in Madrid last Summer and loved your city, it's very much my kind of place ;)!
I don't know The Atlas specifically, but I have heard lots about Willliam Vollmann. He's widely hailed as one of the best American authors at work today. I haven't read him yet (I am quite afraid of his books, I fear they may be too hard and complicated for my taste) but I'll have to do so very soon as he is very much in my area of research. Thanks again :)

Ignacio Hi there Mattia, greetings from Spain, I'm a big fan of your youtube channel, it has helped me reading again, and getting to know awesome books and authors. :)

Yesterday I went to a Book Store here in Madrid and one cover took my attention, it was a book called The Atlas by William T. Vollmann, have you heard of it ? I think he is in the same vein as most American Post-Modernist writers!

Sorry for my bad english!

Hi George and thanks for your recommendations - I know a lot about all of these books though I sadly still have to read them! I have a friend who is a huge Bolano fan and in general I have heard great things about 2666. Of these three, that's the one I'll probably be reading the soonest ;)!

You can always try the first part (Titus Groan) and see if that makes you want to continue to the next two books. I just came across a note about the trilogy that says, "... one of post-war Britain's finest literary achievements."

Chris Meloche Hi Mattia - I wonder if you have read Mervyn Peake's works (i.e. the Gormenghast trilogy). For years, I avoided it as I thought it was something like Lord of the Rings. I eventually learned that I was mistaken and read the books. The best description that I read was that Peake made you believe that Gormenghast was a place where magic could happen... and it didn't. The third book is a bit disappointing but, it does include a quite surprising revelation that is essential to the story. Cheers!

I started the summer by re-reading The Crying of Lot 49. I then took my copy of Gravity's Rainbow off the shelf. It had been sitting with a bookmark in it for about 30 years. I began reading with a goal of a minimum of 50 pages and day and was very pleased to finally conquer (and enjoy!) it. I used Inherent Vice as a bit of light reading before tackling... Infinite Jest! I used my 50 page goal again and really enjoyed that one, as well. Then on to DeLillo's White Noise and Calvino's Mr. Palomar. I'm currently reading the wonderful If on a Winter's Night a Traveler. I'm enjoying that one so much that I purchased a second copy to give to a friend. Cheers!

Hi Chris, I'm glad I helped you discover some good stuff and I'm so happy you're enjoying it! Thanks for the comment :)

Chris Meloche Hi Mattia - Thanks for the connection. I really enjoy your review videos on youtube. Although I have hundreds of books, my main interest has long been non-fiction. I recently decided to expand my fiction reading and found your reviews and suggestions most helpful. My past likes included Ballard, Pynchon, Vonnegut etc... Your videos have lead me to discover Calvino, DeLillo, Chabon etc... I have purchased a few dozen fiction titles over the summer and am now enjoying them immensely. Cheers from Canada! Chris
