William Edward Kimbrough (1918-1965) earned a Masters of Fine Arts degree from the University of Alabama under the tutelage of legendary professor Hudson Strode whom Kimbrough joined teaching creative writing classes from 1941 to 1950. Kimbrough is flatteringly described by Patti Carr Black and Marion Barnwell in their TOURING LITERARY MISSISSIPPI (University Press of Mississippi, 2002) as "but for his early death .
