Acceptances
This has been a year of staying home, and like a lot of writers, I have done more poetry submissions than ever. The down side of this is the increase in competition. But the upside is that every so often my work is accepted!
This past spring and summer I have had a cluster of yeses: Vallum Magazine, The Miramichi Reader, NōD Magazine, The Quarantine Review, Sledgehammer Literary Magazine, Unfortunately, Literary Magazine, and SHIFT: A Publication of MTSU Write.
Some of these Magazines paid, some had launches, others requested a video of the poem, or audio of the poem. And others took more than one poem.
Seems pretty obvious to say, but the more you submit, the more acceptances that come your way!

Happy New Years! And a reading in Jan. 2018
On Jan. 28th, 2018, my short story, "Canadoll" is being launched in the anthology, That Dammed Beaver: Canadian Humour, Laughs and Gaffs (Exile Editions, 2017). Details on venue and time TBA.
Coming out at the end of 2017, this collection has already been on Toronto Star's best books of the holiday season list. No wonder: the contributors include Margaret Atwood, Leon Rooke, Priscila Uppal, Helen Marshall and many more!

Brenda Clews
Brenda Clews birthday today!
Brenda Clews is a multi-media poet, artist and videopoet whose approach broaches poetry, painting, theory, dance, recordings and video. Poem fragments are written into paintings. Or a painting evokes a poem that is later written into it. She may dance a poem while wearing a mask which has emerged from a painting. She is a multi-media artist whose approach to a topic includes poetry, painting, theory, dance, recordings, and video. Her oeuvre focuses on multiple callings, the obsessive muse. Brenda has had solo art shows at York University, Q Space and Urban Gallery and she has been in many group art shows. She has been published in a number of literary journals over the years. She has a chapbook, "the luminist poems," (LyricalMyrical Press, 2013) and a book of poetry, "Tidal Fury," (Guernica Editions, 2016), and a forthcoming novella, Fugue in Green (Quattro Books, Fall 2017).

Thurs. May 19. 2016
Great news I'd like to share: a contract for my next book has been signed, sealed and delivered. So my next collection of poetry will appear in the Spring 2018 line-up with Inanna Publications, a terrific feminist press based in Toronto! I'm thrilled, to say the least, and it's time to celebrate.
Enjoy the long weekend everyone, especially with a good book!
Cheers,
Myna

Where the Nights are Twice as Long
Thrilled to say I am in the new anthology, Where the Nights are Twice as Long (Goose Lane Editions, 2015) launching soon, co-edited by David Eso and Jeanette Lynes. My piece, as a contributor, is a vintage, thoroughly embarrassing draft of a love letter I actually send once.
