susan abulhawa was born to refugees of the 1967 war when Israel captured what remained of Palestine, including Jerusalem. She currently lives in Pennsylvania with her daughter. She is the founder and President of Playgrounds for Palestine, a children’s organization dedicated to upholding The Right to Play for Palestinian children. Her debut novel, Mornings in Jenin, was an international bestseller, translated into 30 languages. Her second novel, The Blue Between Sky and Water, was likewise a bestseller, translated into 20 languages. I'm very excited to announce the forthcoming publication of my new novel, Against the Loveless World, to be released in the US on August 25, 2020.

Dear Ms. Abulhawa,

I recently finished reading Against The Loveless World and it remains with me, even now as I read your earlier novel, Mornings In Jenin. I am grateful for these stories because it helps in the continuation of my understanding of what began so long ago in Palestine and its people. There is a point when you become more aware of the world and you are unable to shut off what is happening around you and in other parts of the world. As a person of color in the US, I have long understood my otherness and where I fit in within the classist, racist society I dwell. I am grateful for writers such as yourself who find a way to tell these stories and to bring to light the truth that exists in their pages. I look forward to reading more of your work. Thank you again.
