Renee is the USA Today bestselling author of 8 historical fiction including: FIFTH AVENUE GLAMOUR GIRL and THE SOCIAL GRACES,
Her new novel, LET'S CALL HER BARBIE, about the Barbie doll creators Ruth Handler and Jack Ryan will be published January 21,2025 by Penguin Random House / Berkley.
Most people discover their love of reading first and then decide to try writing. For Renee Rosen, it was just the opposite. From the time she was a little girl she knew she wanted to be a writer and by age seventeen had completed her first novel, with what she admits was the worst opening line of all time. Hi Kelly,
Thanks so much for taking the time to reach out to me and I apologize for the delay. I've been traveling a lot with Park Avenue Summer and am still playing catch up with emails and such. I'm so glad you've enjoyed the previous book and especially the strong female characters. I have more coming up for you. Right now I'm finishing up my next novel, The Social Graces (coming 1/21) and it tells the story of Mrs. Astor and Alva Vanderbilt vying for control of New York society during the gilded age. These are two very different, but equally strong women. I'm having great fun with the research and the writing. Learned so much about that very rich (no pun intended) time period. Stay tuned for more details! Thanks again and happy reading!

Thanks so much for reading Let's Call Her Barbie. We're of the same generation although I was born a bit later than you. But my older sister had Barbies and I inherited her dolls and then acquired my own along the way. Thanks for your question!

“I was scared. Nothing feels solid anymore. Security had been yanked out from under me. I wanted to tell her how much I loved her. She just had to know how much. My grandfather had been old; he was supposed to die. Parents weren't. It was in my mother's arms when it hit me. Every day brought you that much closer to losing the ones you loved. Death would always find you, and there was nothing you could do about it.”
Renee Rosen, Every Crooked Pot

“Helen had given me permission to pursue what I wanted, and as a result, I knew myself better—what I liked, what I didn’t. Most important, I had discovered what I deserved.”
Renee Rosen, Park Avenue Summer

“I find it so funny that you’re nervous about a woman editing a magazine for women.”
