Whoa there. WHOA THERE.

This book is mostly about Hild, but it's also fascinating to see Christianity take root in Saxon/British culture, transforming it as it goes.

Just got an email from the Pima County library system informing me that my book is (still) late and that I now owe them $1 (so far). This is how libraries make money, guys.

I think I might have stacked the deck a little. This book is seriously leaning towards being a five star read, and that would make it my third of the year. I don't just hand out these ratings, I swear!

Hild not understanding about Satan is just the best. Her mother and brother are getting baptised, and she keeps thinking he's going to pop out of the woods and start attacking everyone for daring to renounce him.

Guys, all I have to say is that I'm super glad I didn't live in the Dark Ages. It sounds super stressful.

This book is so detailed I think I'm doing it a disservice by rushing through it so fast. I know I'm missing stuff. Also, I keep thinking, how did she do this!? I feel like I'm reading about another world.
