I have Lio's heart. Fuck. What an I going to do with it?
What's love when you're too fucked up to feel it right?
I think it's a weapon.

Numbers don't matter.
Because what if loss is immeasurable? What if all we can do is call a loss a loss?
What if the FBI agent is worth as much as Craig? What if my brother is worth as much as September 11th?
There is no way to measure these holes.
One dead person today is one person who is dead, one whole person who is not around anymore, and that's horrible.
We're not just numbers. Someone loves us.

I'm not even sure if there are any fabulous Jews or homosexuals at our school, but rest assured that if there are, I will find them. By Friday they will be my babies. Mark it.

"You were a twin," Mrs. Privett says. Her voice is soft and gentle, like whipped cream. Whipped cream that feels sorry for you.
I say, "I am a twin."
Craig smiles at me. It's been a long time since I've seen that expression on someone. He is proud.
"More carrots, Lio?" Todd asks, because I'm down to one. I say yes. I'm a doormat.
But I made Craiger proud.

Todd disapproves of me for what's probably some deep philosphical reason I'll never understand, judging by the way he's dressed. I say please and thank you. I pass things when they're requested, and sometimes when they aren't requested but someone seems to be running low. And by someone I mean Craig.
Todd passes the glazed carrots. I'm sure this is another sign of him quietly hating me.

"We're fifteen," he whispers.
I say something Cody used to say to me whenever I'd say we were too young and that this couldn't be real: "So, we still have our hearts."

He seems smaller than usual when he talks to his father. I wonder if everyone gets younger when they talk to their parents.

"I cry, like, all the time," I say.
He nods. "I know. It's okay. Sometimes I get cancer."

-And just like that I love this book again. :)

I don't care how little you've driven, anyone can figure out a u-turn. Anyone.
Craig is getting on my nerves in this chapter!

That movie we wanted to see, Phone Booth? They're postponing the release because they think it'll be too upsetting this close to the shootings.
-Funny, I remember that. The DC shootings were all over the news then, couln't get away from it, Just like in this book. That small detail really adds authenticity.
