One minute she is nicking apples from the next door neighbour’s apple tree aged about 7 and a half and now she is a 60 year old woman. How did that happen?
Part memoir and part social history, this is the story of a girl who went from living in a council house to becoming the partner of a Queen’s Counsel. Told in chronological order, her life events are recounted with a mixture of wry humour, bitter resentment and savvy observation. It is a tale narrated alongside some of the significant political and social events of the time, from the 1950s to the present day.
Now a 60 year old woman, she takes a size 10 in clothes. She drinks a lot of Shiraz. She wears killer heels, a leather biker jacket and skinny jeans. She rocks out with her mates in nightclubs and she goes to rock and roll concerts; she is an aging rock chick.
This is the story about how an ordinary woman’s life has been lived; about the good times, the bad times and the crazy times. It is those experiences that ultimately shape us and it is those experiences that have a story to tell.
“A bird does not sing because it has an answer; it sings because it has a song to sing.”
(Chinese proverb)
I AM A 60 YEAR OLD WOMAN: HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?
A book to make you laugh out loud and a book to make you cry.

Here's wishing you a wonderful holiday season.
