The new Empire cover features Chris Evans in his stars-and-stripes as 'Captain America: The First Avenger'. Directed by Joe Johnston, the action adventure stars Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving, Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones, Samuel L. Jackson, Dominic Cooper, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci and Neal McDonough.

Chris Evans also told Les Toiles Heroiques that he is not contracted for nine Marvel films as was previously rumored.

"To be honest," he says in a quote translated back from French, "it was quite intimidating to commit to nine films in a row. Thankfully, we reduced the number to six... If all goes as planned, I will be playing Captain America until I'm 40."

Describing the movie version of Bucky, the character as the "Band of Brothers" version, director Joe Johnston says that Stan's performance will offer a "dark side" to Barnes.

"We took some liberties with the relationship between the two guys,” Johnston is quoted as saying. “In our story, Bucky is already in the service, he’s already joined up and is being sent overseas while Steve is still struggling to get in the army. That’s different than what you may have read in the comics. It adds a nuance to the relationship that pays off later. They’re closer in age, too — they’re virtually the same age.”

Also Samuel L. Jackson appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and confirmed that Nick Fury will be making cameo appearances in 'Thor' and 'Captain America: The First Avenger'.

Marvel Studios have announced Oscar-nominated actor Stanley Tucci has joined the cast of 'First Avenger: Captain America' as Doctor Abraham Erskine, the man who created Captain America.

In the comics Dr. Erskine was a German scientist behind Project Rebirth, the secret experiment that created the Super Soldier known as Captain America. Joe Johnston will direct the film penned by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely already cast are Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones and Hayley Atwell.

THR heat vision blog have news that Sebastian Stan will play Captain America’s sidekick Bucky Barnes in 'First Avenger: Captain America'.

In comic book lore, Barnes, a teenaged orphan, was too young to join the army but became one camp’s mascot. When he discovered Captain America’s identity, he joined Captain America as a partner in his Nazi-fighting escapades. The character died in Captain America’s final World War II adventure.

After decades of being “dead,” the character was revived in 2005 by Ed Brubaker and brought back into modern comic continuity, initially as a covert assassin named Winter Soldier but would eventually take the shield and become Captain America.
