I made two more blocks today, so I have half of them done. I will do three more at the quilting bee tomorrow, and then the last three on Thursday. It has been fun making them! I want to finish the blocks early, as I will be beginning my course soon with Linda Mathews. I am so looking forward to it. I will be posting the techniques that I learn online and include photos of the samples that I did for each
technique. Hope it will help anyone who is interested in machine felting. I will be ordering a whole bunch of supplies that I need in a few days and that will be fun...a big shopping spree. There will be lots to learn, but I am ready for the challenge. Linda is amazing! I can tell by the dvd that I got for the course that it will be a great one. I like the fact that Linda will be available to us online, and the forum will be very helpful. When I make the orders for the course, I will also be ordering some fabric for the borders, backing and binding for the Christmas Block lap quilt...It is going to be adorable! I can't wait to see the 12 blocks that I will get, and then I will have to make 8 more of my own, which I intend to have finished before the fabric arrives. Lots to look forward to!!

A "Just Because " Postcard
As a result of the "just because gift" that I received from my friend Maggey today, I decided to make a gift for her. I took some of my voiles that I received, a few of my batiks, and some Angelina Fibres...all in fall colours, as I wanted to give Maggey "a touch of fall". It was my "just because " gift to her. I used the Babylock EMB12 for the whole project. I used duck cloth as the base, and began punching the voiles for the background and chose rust orange and yellow. I then fussy cut some shapes of leaves and punched them in and then punched and created the border with batik fabric that I had. I used the Anglina Fibres to give it the sparkle and light at some spots, and made what I envisioned a fall fabric postcard should look like. I then ironed the fibres using an ironing sheet and iron. I finally did the machine fancy stitching...My Pfaff 2048 has tons of wonderful stitches, and what fun that was. I chose stitches that fit leaves, and the other shapes and that held the punching that I did to perfection. I finished the border of the card with satin stitching, and voila tomorrow it will be in the mail to Maggey.
The Overworked Mailman
Yes, I got a lot of mail today. Joe walked in with a ton of mail, and the mailman is yet again being overworked by me...a wheelbarrow might be in order.
First of all, I received a mystery Christmas block from Mrs. Claus...I kid you not...The name and address was Mrs. Claus, The North Pole. I, however, saw that it was postmarked from
St. Petersburg, Fla, so maybe Mr. and Mrs. Claus are on vacation there.LOL I know a few people from that area, so don't have it pinned down to one person, but maybe it really was from Mrs. Claus. I must have been a very good girl this year indeed. As you can see by the pic, the sparkly one with the pinwheel in the center was from Mrs. Claus.
Second, I received a wonderful Friendship block from Pam who is in my SBS Friendship Group. It is signed in the middle from her. It is so lovely!
Third, I received the most gorgeous voiles from Janet who is in the UK. We were worried that it would not arrive, as it took 10 days to be delivered, but they finally came, and they were well worth the wait. Can you see how many wonderful colours and voiles I received? What fun I will have with the embellisher using them! I will now buy Janet some goodies at her favourite store in the UK, but I just wanted to say a "Big Thank You" for picking out such stunning voiles. Oh, there is a dvd in the pic of the voiles...that is a dvd that I ordered of the course that I will be taking from Linda Matthews on machine felting..I will also be going on line with the course, but I am so excited with that!
Third, my dear friend Maggey from Illinois sent me a gift" just because". Those kinds of gifts are always so nice, as there is no special occasion for the gift, but she sent it because she wanted to send me something...How sweet is that! It is a lovely handmade wallet, which can be used for a credit card and some bills. It is so nice, as you can see. Thank you so much Maggey!
What a day this has been! Joe and I finally took a walk in the PM, as I had so much sewing to do, but it was a lovely walk that looped the town, and we throughly enjoyed it, even though it was a bit rainy and cold. Fall has definitely hit Dunfanaghy.
More Christmas House Blocks
I am having fun making the Christmas house blocks for the swap. I now have four total. I will be done this week, as today I made some more, and now they are going quickly.
I will mail them to our hostess this week. I have decided to make a lap quilt from it, so I will add a few of my own. It should be very cute!

Christmas House Block Exchange
Today, I made my first two Christmas houses for the Christmas Block Exchange with my Stichin Fingers Group. I have 10 more to go, plus one for myself. It will be fun to receive 12 blocks from the people in the group. It will make a very lovely wall hanging or quilt for Christmas. Boy did it put me into the Christmas spirit!..We only have 11 weeks till Christmas....My goodness, this year has flown! I will be adding the photos of the blocks each day, so look out for them!

Horn Head Wallhanging Finally Finished
I finally hand sewed the binding to the wall hanging. I had the previous day done tons of machine quilting and fancy stitches. I never realized that my Pfaff 2048 had so many wonderful stitches. I know many of us don't even use the many stitches we have. Anyway, it is done, and it is hanging up in all its glory. Now on to my next project!
A Wonderful Surprise
I received a wonderful surprise today from my friend Janet who lives in the UK. She read in a previous post that my husband Joe does not get any letters except for bills, so she sent him a postcard. As you can see it is a brilliant fireworks fabric postcard. It had wonderful fancy, colourful stitchwork on it, beads galore, and Janet said on the back of the card:
Dear Joe,
A firework for a "bright spark." Enjoy!
LOL, Janet
Well what a shock for Joe! He couldn't believe it. From the both of us, thanks so much! Joe is the fireworks in my life, so it was very appropriate indeed!!
Also, I got a wonderful siggy from Tommy in the Netherlands, who hand stitched the center block with a dainty, lovely rose, and the flowers in the fabric just made it so pretty. I love every siggy that I get, but flowers are always so special.

More and More Siggies
I received three siggies today from people in the International Siggy Swap. The block with the adorable cat in the center came from Martina who is from Germany. Then Ria, from the Netherlands, made me a gorgeous block from flowered fabric, and her center was stamped with flowers also. Finally, the last block with the Big "M" on it..Was that made especially for me or what?....came from the Netherlands. Liesbeth made me this special block, and how nice of her to send me an "M" for my name.
Thanks to all!
Cottage Block Exchange
Nanette from Freda' s Hive http://fredashive.blogspot.com/ has come up with a wonderful oh so cute block for a swap.I have included a pic of a block that someone made, so you can see what it looks like. You can find the tutorial of the block at Nanette's site...It is a wonderful house that we are all making into Christmas blocks.
She and Terri ( http://purpleandpaisley.blogspot.com/) are the hostesses of the
swap. There are 48 people in the swap total and 12 people in each group. We will all make 12 blocks and thus receive 12 lovely Christmas houses which will make a lovely quilt or whatever each one of us decides to make. I have already met a few of the swappers who have come to my blog. and it is nice to get to know everyone and see each other's blogs. The blocks will be a wonderful memory of our swapping experience. We will send all 12 blocks to Nanette, which makes it so much easier. I bought some Christmas fabric today and will plan my first house tomorrow. The planning of each house will be great fun! I got some novelty print that has Santa Claus and other Christmas characters on the fabric, so I am planning on putting them on the door to welcome the visitors to the house. What fun this is going to be! Thanks Nanette!

Update on My Wall Hanging and Check it Out Below
I finished the borders for my landscape wall hanging that I did with the Babylock Embellisher...I machine quilted some fancy designs in the border and will be doing some free motion stitching in the actual scene that I created. It is turning out nicely. I will have it posted this week. Today, I have my quilting bee, so I will busy there all afternoon from 2-5 PM sewing and chit chatting. We will be talking about the Saturday bee, which is an all day event. All the bees are meeting at a central location, and we are making a charity quilt for the Catholic Church to help them raise money for a new roof. It will also fun to meet the gals from the other bees
Oh, check it out, I added a pic of my parents...I thought I should include their pic...Also, my dad made a wonderful doll house that I wish that I had now for my dolls. It was given to a grandaughter a long time ago. Anyway, I have added some info in a "PS" at the end of my post
"Dedicated To My Parents."
I was thinking about revamping my sewing room, and thought that if my dad were alive, he would have made me stunning shelves, furniture, etc.

Postman Continues to Gripe
I received two blocks from Bobye in my SBS Friendship Group...one was a lovely friendship block and the other was an incredibly beautiful Christmas block. The center of the block had a wonderful novelty print. That will have to go in the middle of the Christmas quilt that I will make with all of the Christmas blocks.
Then, I got two fabric postcards. One was from Susan who is from the Fiberartpostcard Group, who sent a lovely flower card for the "Anything Goes" Swap. Also Sharon sent me a really funny card with a wonderful saying from Lucille Ball which said," The secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age. ....great advice!

Last, I was surprised with a lovely siggy from Evelyn in Germany. She sent me a bright orange, cheery card.
I will have to seriously consider getting the postman a wheelbarrow for all of my mail.LOL
Thanks to all!
Horn Head Overlooking Killahoey Beach In Progress
I am making a wall hanging of Horn Head, which is a headland that overlooks Killahoey Beach...Joe and I actually walked the 12 mile loop around Horn Head, and boy were we tired at the end. I made the wall hanging with batik and cotton fabrics, angelina fibres, and yarn. This is my first landscaped scene with the Babylock EMB12, and I really enjoyed it so much! Joe was watching a political show yesterday at 11 PM and I started it then, and was up till 1 AM...I didn't realize that time had flown by so quickly. I then continued to work on it in the morning.
Tomorrow, I will finish the machine quilting...I will do some free motion sewing and use some fancy stitches to secure the scene. Then I will complete the wall hanging as it is traditionally done.
I have ordered some wool roving in various colours from the UK, as I want to try a landscape picture..first laying the roving on Vilene and felting it, rinsing out the Vilene, waiting for it to dry,so that I can cut out the pieces that I want from the felt created, and then felt them to the base and create a scene. I will be making a picture called "Horse on the Beach".
First, I will finish my Horn Head landscaped wall hanging, and will show you the final pic of it hanging on our wall.

Bag Completed!
I finished the bag today...I was determined to get it done. I had to finish the bias around the top, so I picked another purple hand dyed batik to coordinate and finish off the top. I also used the fabric for the handles and made a pocket inside the bag. I wanted to create the look of a watercolour picture, and a woman from Germany commented in my blog that it looked like a painting, so I was very happy with that compliment. When I cut the fabrics out, I cut the flower designs out in the shape of flowers before I punched them and of course thought carefully about the colour arrangement as I lay the pieces together to be punched. It is amazing the effects that you can create with an embellisher. Finally, I added two small sunflower embellishments as the pattern has a lot of floral designs, and that means I can also use it more casually.
I can't wait to show it off at the quilting bee this Wednesday. I got an email also today about the course that I will be taking with Linda Matthews on the embellisher, and after reading about the details of the course, I was very excited.
Well, I will use the bag on Christmas Eve when Joe has promised to take me out for a special dinner at Arnold Hotel...I will have to get a new dress of course to coordinate with it. LOL

Designer Bag in Progress
I began a bag with my new Babylock EMB12, and it is turning out really nice. I punched the front of the bag yesterday, and finished putting it together today. I only need to make the bias for the top of the bag, a snap closure for the bag, and the handles. I wanted to show you the bag in progress as it is always fun to see a bag in the stages of its development.
I used various batiks that I punched, and a glittzy, metallic yarn in addition to Angelina Fibers. The Babylock Embellisher with the 12 needles really did a great job with the punching, and it finished the front relatively fast. The base fabric is a medium 10 oz duck cloth. I then went to the Pfaff 2048 and did the free motion sewing and added some fancy stitches. The lining inside the bag is a Michael Miller violet fairy frost...very shiny and sparkly...and the back is a purple hand dyed batik fabric.
I should have the bag done tomorrow or the next day, and will post the final pic. It was great fun and for the first time ever, Joe has been really interested in the whole process. He finds the process so interesting, and he spent some time with me in the sewing room.

Dedicated To My Parents
My parents Alexander and Mina Perlberger were holocaust survivors. My dad was in a concentration camp, but he was truly a survivor in all respects. He had a wonderful sense of humour and a zest for life. I learned two important things from him. First of all, to always judge people individually, and more importantly, to see the postive things in life. I always think of my dad like Anne Frank who wrote in her diary, "I think the world may be going through a phase, the way I was with Mother. It'll pass, maybe not for hundreds of years, but some day... I still believe in spite of everything, that people are really good at heart." I choose to see the positive side of life like my dad when I can. My mom wrote a diary like Anne Frank and her original diary is in the Yad Vashem Museum in Israel and a copy is in the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC. She sadly didn't survive the holocaust too well, but she expressed her sadness through her art, poetry, and sewing. I know when I paint, write poems, or just go to my sewing room to create the quilts, dolls, or whatever, I think of her. She did see the beauty in the world, and I did get that from her. I decided to make this fabric postcard for them. I used watercolour pencils to make the drawing. My dad would have liked the smile on Solly's face, and my mom would have remembered the family she never forgot. I will remember my parents with a smile on my face, as I think about all the good times we had together.
PS: Here is a pic of my parents.. My dad made that doll house in the pic that I included...He also built much of our furniture in our house...In addition, he was a signmaker, and built the old Macy's sign in NY among others...He then started a fabric store called Mina's Dry Goods which both my parents ran. He built it out of an old basement in the house that we lived in on Rosalie Street , and it landed up being very popular and successful. I used to go to NY with my dad every weekend for many years, and he would drop me off on 5th Avenue while he went to the fabric district there to buy fabric. Then later in the day, he would pick me up at Tiffany's...You remember "Breakfast at Tiffany" with Audrey Hepburn... Because of my trips with my dad, NY was almost like my second home to me. Well, they were married almost 50 years and were a wonderful couple. I am lucky enough to have a marriage like that with Joe.

Christmas Block and Siggy Block
I got a wonderful Christmas block from Valerie, who is in my SBS Friendship Group...I will be soon making my Christmas quilt, and this block can give you an idea for sure how special it will look on our bed. Thanks Valerie for the beautiful fabric and pattern. You outdid yourself!
Then , Nel who is from Australia, but originally from Holland, sent me a wonderful siggy block and a long letter about herself. I just love the center block of flowers, and the hand dyed fabric in a bright, cheery orange. She told me that she has over 200 siggy blocks that she has collected so far. I am way behind, but I am inching my way up to 55, so that isn't all that bad considering that I just recently started the International Siggy Swap.
I am still keeping the mailman as busy as a bee.
I am still keeping the mailman as busy as a bee.
Fifi With Attitude
I made another doll and her name is Fifi With Attitude...She has a flair about her and I enjoyed making her. I used acyllic paints on her face with some glitter gel pens, and gave her some Michael Miller fairy frosts, and batiks for her body.I put angelina fiber, of course in pink, for her hair. Her tail has a charm on it that I bought years ago at a thrift shop. I wanted her to have a fantasy look about her, and she is oh so French. She looks like a cat that I used to have, named Sophie and she definitely has her spirit and personality. I took Sophie in and she stayed for a while, but she was too independent and free spirited to want to be an indoor cat One day, she must have found a boyfriend, because she never came back. I then rescued a black and white cat name TJ, standing for tuxedo jacket, and he was quite content to stay inside and be pampered all day. My favorite cat of all was Chen Sui Lung, or Cheny for short. He was a seal point himalayan and quite a beauty. I decided to do a cat comfort doll in honour of Sophie, as I always missed her funny ways.

My First Handmade Icicle Doll
I got inspired this morning to do an icicle doll. Kath, from my Pizzazz Postcard Group told me about the doll. I found a pattern online, and decided to make a Hawaiin Princess...very exotic looking. I drew a drawing of what I wanted to do first, and then I began to sew. The directions are as follows:
1. Use the template for the body and cut out two pieces leaving the seam allowance.
2.Sew both sides together inside out leaving an opening in the side.
3.Turn the fabric inside out out and then fill with batting...I used a soft batting.
4. Then slip stitch the opening once the body is filled.
5.Cut out face from a card stock, and then draw the face that you want first and use acryllic paints to make the face.
6. Decorate with embellishments.
I used Angelina fibers for the hair, and sewed it to the head area and to the body. I first used hair spray to make it more firm.
I wanted to make her Hawaiin looking, so I used flowers as my embellishments. The flash is showing the flowers as more whitish, but they are a soft pink, and I put it around her head as many Hawaiin princesses wore flowers encircling their faces. I also put buttons on it, a gold metallic ribbon around her neck like a necklace and a dark pink heart as a pendant for the necklace. I found wonderful gold braid which I hand sewed all around the body, and thus Leilani, which means Heavenly Flowers, was born.
I am excited how it turned out. I will be making more icicle dolls. They are such fun!

Anything Goes
I made four identical postcards for the Fiberartpostcard Group Swap called "Anything Goes." as I am keeping one of them.I decided to make a postcard that represented Ireland, but especially Donegal County. Our county has lots of fields and hills, and often you see a lone house on a hill and both Joe and I find that solitary scene very beautiful. If we won the lottery, we would buy a house on Horn Head, where our house would not be too near other neighbors. The peace and solitude would be beautiful. I think that is what we treasure the most...our peace and happiness. Anyway, that is what the postcard is about...Our Donegal.

Sparkling Angelina Fibres
My Angelina Fibres arrived from Barnyarns in the UK. http://www.barnyarns.co.uk/ and I thought that you might want to see what it looks like if you never saw it before...It reminds me of tinsel that you see around Christmas time. When you are punching the base with your embellisher, if you add Angelina Fibres and punch it in, it really makes it sparkle. You then cut off the excess fabric around the base using an acrylic ruler and rotary cutter, and then you place the base onto fusible interfacing( Pellon 911ff) and steam iron. It is just gorgeous! My husband Joe ordered this for me when he also got the embellisher and the book/dvd for me. Well, I am waiting for the duck cloth to arrive from Nancy's Notions, and then I will begin my pillow...Petals on the Nile...It even sounds romantic and exotic. Then you will get lots of pics of the whole process. More to come!
PS: I had to stop the order to Nancy's Notions...The shipment of the 4 yards of duck cloth would have cost us over 40 dollars, which is double the price of the item, so I cancelled it.I then quickly ordered from Cotton Patch in the UK...I can't recommend them for service...It takes 5 days just to process the order and then another 5-7 days to ship it, and they are right near us in the UK ,but I am out of duck cloth and I need it for the base for the lightweight fabrics. Well, I will have to wait. I was trying to avoid ordereing from them, but $40.95 for shipping is way to much.
I ordered 5 yards, so it is a waiting game now. Plus, they would have put 4 yards in a box, as duck cloth is heavier, and then I would have had customs on my back...don't need that.

Pillows and Swaps
I got two beautiful postcards today. One was from Jo Ann who is a member of the FiberartPostcard Group and who resides in AK. She sent me a very modern postcard for the "Anything Goes Swap"...I loved the colours and the flow of the patterns..The trims and designs gave the card a lot of movement. Thanks to Jo Ann!
Then, I got a wonderful postcard from Rhonda from Idaho, who is in my SBS Friendship Group.Well, I was taken aback...the scene really reminded me so much of Idaho, which I had visited many years ago.She said that she lives on the family farm, and boy did she capture that beautifully in the scene that she created. I loved it! The colours that she used were so visually pretty and I could imagine myself there and her love for the outdoors. Kudos to you Rhonda!
Then, I received the "Pillows" book written by Christopher Nejman, and his wonderful dvd from Nancy's Notions at http://www.nancysnotions.com/ Their service was wonderful. It only took three days to get here from the United States. I also want to commend their Customer Service Department. I was trying to find a medium weight duck cloth to purchase online, and it isn't easy to find. I saw that where I did find it, it was in 10oz or 12oz weight. I couldn't get anyone to tell me what weight was the medium duckcloth that I needed for the base that I was going to use for my lightweight fabric(voiles) and Angelina Fibres...Well, a product specialist from Nancy's answered my email promptly and told me that a medium weight duck cloth was 10oz. I ordered a few yards, and it should arrive in a few days.
Getting back to my wonderful purchase....In the dvd, called "Designer Techniques,"Christopher & Nancy talk about various techniques that are used in the book to make the pillows illustrated.
I will start off with the pillow called "The Petals on the Nile" because I was mesmerized by the technique that Christopher showed on the dvd. I will have Joe take pics of the process, so you can see it...It is amazing! I will be doing all this with my new Babylock EMB12 and what fun that will be!
Last but not least, I received a siggy block from Freda who lives in California. She is in my International Siggy Swap. She had a lovely center block of her home state, and various purple and orchid fabrics...lovely!
Another very busy day for

Second Surprise From DH
My husband Joe surprised me not too long ago, as you know, with a brand new computer. Well, last week, my husband Joe sent the 7 needle Babylock Embellisher in for a service and cleaning...I didn't understand why, but he already had arranged it while I was at the bee. I just got the machine not long ago...what was up with that? Today I found out what was up with that...Joe told me that he arranged with Gur Sewing machines to have it traded in for the latest Babylock Embellisher EMB12, which means it has 12 needles. To top it all off, it was arriving today. I was in shock! It was delivered at around 11 AM, and as you can see, it is a beaut. Before you ask, no Joe does not have any brother that I could arrange for you to meet.LOL He is one of a kind. The machine has a lot of features that the other one did not have, and it came with a 5 year warranty. There is a ribbon and yard feeder and you can use as many needles as you want, as the needles can be removed very easily. My friend Mary, funny enough, is getting a new Janome Embellisher tomorrow in Young, and that will be a three hour drive from where she lives out in the bush. We are going to both take an online course with Linda Mathews that is a two week course on the embellisher, and she also offers some advanced courses. Luckily, my friend Jan is also going to her local market in England today where she is getting me a bunch of voiles in exchange for FQ's that I will be getting for her. I definitely needed some more lightweight shiny fabrics, as they punch out so nicely, and make the shiniest textured base that you can imagine. The Babylock Embellisher also came with a great project book, so I will be reading that this afternoon. Also, Joe is scanning two projects that are in that book for Mary in Australia, as I know she will love them.
I also got a Christmas star from Rhonda today who is in my SBS Friendhsip Yahoo Group, and the fabrics were so pretty. I can't wait to get all of the blocks so I can make the Christmas quilt.
I am so lucky to have a husband like Joe, and this is turning out to be another wonderful day.

The Postman said, " I need a wheelbarrow."
I first received fat quarters that I won from a Bingo game that we played on The New Quilting Club Yahoo Group. The funny thing is that I didn't purchase the bingo card. Philla, who is one of the moderators, gave me the card as a surprise gift, and I landed up winning. As you can see, I won some wonderful fat quarters.
I also received four postcards. Three of the postcards came from friends in my SBS Friendship Group. One was from Susan O., who included a lovely line that Joe and I both loved:"If I had a single flower for every time I think about you, I could walk forever in my garden, " and the background fabric was a garden of flowers. The second card came from Niagra Falls, Canada, from Karen, who gave me maple leaves with a pretty machine embroidered flower. She said that the white satin fabric of the trillium petals were from remnants of her wedding dress from 35 years ago...amazing! She explained that the trillium is the provincial flower of Ontario and is used in many logos of organizations or government programs. The background were made from small maple leaves from a tree in her backyard, and then she painted them with craft paint and stamped them on the black mottled fabric. Of course, the maple leaf represented Canada and the green stitching represented her Irish connection of Listowel. Then there was a very lively and cheerful card from Cathy in Fla. who called it Summer Breeze, and it really gave both of us a breath of summer...Joe made a point of saying, "Boy that is colourful and cheerful."We have not had much of a summer here in Donegal County, so this brightened up our cool, fall weather day. Lastly, I got a very special postcard from Susan P. who is in my Postcard Pizzazz Group... She got it "just because"...and it was special because she said that she was thinking of me when she made the card, and then sent it to me just becuase she thought of me...How nice! She recycled her DH's t shirt and called it "Memory of City Life." Well, I owe her a postcard for sure..."just because" she is so sweet.
Lastly, I got five siggies today. One is from Kieny from Taiwan and the fabric is a wonderful Asian exotic fabric with a mouse in the center to represent the year of the rat/mouse. The second siggy was from Antje in Germany, and her center block had a beautiful bird. Pam from Virginia sent me a cat in the center and a very bright coloured background fabric, and Franca in Italy told me that because she loves animals, she sent me a block with the cutest cat in the center block with a starry background that made me feel like a star. Finally, Ruthie from Utah, in the USA sent me a beautiful black fabric with a center that says, "Piece Thru Quilting, " and everyone is holding hands. Lovely thought, isn't it?
It was definitely Christmas in September for me today, and I am a very lucky woman indeed.
A Fun Postcard to Create...and Rambling On
Pat in the Friendship Group asked me to make her a postcard. I found a design that had a "P" in it and my all time favorite animal "the pig"...Joe and I love pigs, since we went camping at a campsite right outside the town of Kilkenny where they have the Kilkenny Castle...which was the seat of the Butler Family... You know why we love that castle....Anyway, the campsite was lovely, and there were lovely walks by a lake, and lots of pigs, as it was a working farm. We had so much fun visiting them, and they did look happy as Larry basking in the sun. Back to the postcard, I did have a good time making it for Pat. I used my embrodery machine, and I added some embellishments. I think that the best machine that I ever got was the embroidery machine. I am saving up for a wonderful 12 block tile scene of a Covered Bridge that is on Anita Goodesign's website at http://www.anita-goodesign.com/ It reminds me of the covered bridges that we had in my homestate of PA. It will be a lot of work, but it will be so colourful and beautiful when it is done. I will have to stock up on all the colours of threads that I will need to put this wonderful scene together. Well, getting back to the "Letter P Pig" design, it was so cute, so I had to use it for Pat. I am mailing the card out today, so she should have it by the end of the week or beginning of next week, as she lives in Fla.

UK Big Brother Winner Announced
I have been watching Big Brother UK for a few months now, and the bookies predicted that Mikey would be the winner, but last night we were all surprised when the following happened:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=baU_-yDJM0w
Boy, was I shocked and rather disappointed that Rachel won...Oh my God! She is the Pollyanna, goody goody character who is so good that she makes you nauseous with her constant Miss Perfect attitude. The number of votes between Mikey and Rachel were so close.Well, Mikey got cheered the most, and was told by Davina in the interview that he was the most unforgettable character that Big Brother Uk ever had. He was blind, and you really respected his good humour, craziness, and postitive attitude. I have included a pic of Mikey and Rachel. The most hated characted, without a shadow of a doubt, was Rex, and even though, you can see he was good looking, he seemed to get a perverted pleasure in harrassing the other characters.
Rachel got 100,000 sterling...not bad for a short stay in the Big Brother House.

New Gadget Called Seamingly Accurate & It's Free
I went to Colleen's blog, and it was so interesting... I really loved it! I read about a gadget that is free to download called Seamingly Accurate. It helps you achieve consistent seams. Well, I clicked on the link that Colleen provided, and it took me to the site at www.reannalilydesign.com and I downloaded the gadget. There is a wonderful tutorial with pics on the site, and by gosh, it really does work. I can see this working in a lot of situations. Thanks Colleen for the thumbs up on such a wonderful product. I loved the site too, so it is well worth checking it out. I love gadgets in general, but anything that is free, is an added bonus. It is always nice making new friends through our blogs, and so nice to share our lives in such a wonderful way.
Artisan Asian Fabrics Finally Arrived
I finally got the Artisan Asian fabrics that I ordered from Hancock of Paducah. I have to admit that it took longer than it should have, but the fabrics are beautiful. They even sent me a catoalogue of fabrics, and when Joe saw it, he said, "Bin it!" I guess that he was afraid I would look at it and want to order more fabric.LOL Of course, I will! I will be using the fabric for the Kimono quilt or wall hanging that I will be doing...I haven't decided which. It depends how easy I find it working with the templates in the pattern. There are 9 blocks to make, if I want the quilt, so you can well imagine how big each kimono block is. It should be lovely! I will pick the fabrics that I want to use for the kimono costume, and plan for all of it tonight, as I sit with the fabrics, pattern, and yes, the catalogue, in my comfortable leather lounge chair.
I just love them all!...I received 15 fat quarters in the bundle....all for $29.95. You can have it auto shipped too, so I may do that...we shall see...It depends if I do the quilt or not. I was about ready to call them and ask them why it was taking so long, but now, I love them...Hey, I have a wonderful catalogue to peruse. LOL

Siggy From Germany
Kerstin from Kreuzwertheim, in Germany, sent me a very cheery, orange flowered block. She hand embroidered the center block with a lovely flower, and as I love flowers, it was most welcome. I loved her letter to me, and I immediately went to the sewing room and chose her a flowered fabric, so that she also could get flowers from me.
Thanks so much Kerstin for brightening up my day!

A Siggy and a Christmas Block
Today, I got a whole load of letters, as you can see...Joe brought all my mail to the computer room and said, " I never get anything, and laughed." I literally had tons of mail. Well, the last two letters that I received were a siggy block from my International Siggy Swap, and a beautiful Christmas Block from a member of my SBS Friendship Group.
The siggy block was from Richet, who lives in France. The bee in the center block was so cute! She wrote me a letter, and now I also have a siggy to make tomorrow...Tomorrow is going to be a very busy day indeed.LOL
Caroline, from the Friendship Group sent me a Christmas block...I am going to get 12 total from my friends in the group..I will add some more blocks that I will make, so I can have a double sized Christmas quilt...I have always wanted to have one. It will be taken out each year so that our bedroom can be as festive as the rest of the house will. Caroline's block was so pretty, and each time I get a block, I realize how wonderful the Christmas quilt will be.

A Dragonfly Came To Call
I received a double whammy as they say. The postman delivered a letter from my friend Jan, who was a member of the Postcard Pizazz Group. It was a postcard that she sent from a swap that we were in a long while back. Why was it a double whammy? I got a beautiful postcard and also some scraps of gorgeous delicate, see-through fabrics that were absolutely sparkling. I immediately thought of my Babylock Embellisher...but oh my, the fabric would also look good on any future postcard that I would create. I was really taken aback. The postcard was magical! The dragonfly looked alive. Jan just emailed me and explained that she free motioned the dragonfly, and she didn't use an embroidery machine. That is amazing! She did the whole dragonfly free hand and then beaded it herself. I loved the background fabric, and everything just sparkled. I appreciated how much work went into that postcard, and as you can see, it really gives you a sense of a wonderful fantasy.
