I thought I’d update quickly about what I’m currently painting. I’m painting the tower from the previous post for the contest on Wamp but I’ve also been working on a couple of other things. I finished a commission, somebody who wanted a painted “Fenland Well”. It does look a lot like the previous one on the add but the tints are actually a bit darker, especially on the rocks. I think it works well with the wet effect and gives it a good “old damp” feel, not sure I’m making any sense here^^. Anyway, if anybody is interested I’m charging £30.00 for the painted version + shipping costs.

I’ve also been working on my current favourite minis. They are from Soda Pop Miniatures, specifically from the Super Dungeon Explore Board game. I’m hoping to have a couple finished before the week end so that’ll be the next update.



Un petit post juste histoire de mentionner ce que je suis en train de peindre. Dans le post précédent, je parlais de la tour que je vais présenter au concours sur Wamp mais je suis aussi en train de peindre 2-3 bricoles à coté. J’ai fini une commande, un client qui voulait une version peinte du « puits des terres marécageuses ». Il ressemble beaucoup à celui sur la photo de l’annonce mais les teintes sont plus sombres, surtout sur la pierre. Je trouve que ca va bien avec l’effet mouillé par endroit et lui donne un cote vieilli/humide qui passe bien. Bref, si quelqu’un est intéressé, la version peinte est à £30.00 + les frais de port.

Je suis aussi entrain de travailler sur mes figurines préférées du moment. Il s’agit des minis de la boite du jeu Super Dungeon Explore de chez Soda Pop Miniatures. J’espère en terminer 1 ou 2 d’ici le weekend.

Finished! That was a pleasure to paint although a hell of a lot of work to put together. You got to love these sets, so many options and different ways to assemble it. I didn’t manage to get really good pictures as my set up is better suited for smaller minis. They do occupy a lot of space for only 5 guys!

Fini ! C’était un vrai plaisir que de peindre cette unité quoique qu’un sacré morceau de travail à assembler. Ces kits GW sont incroyables, tellement de possibilités. Je n’ai pas réussi à prendre de bonnes photos car je n’ai pas trop l’habitude de photographier des unités aussi larges. Ils sont que 5 mais ils occupent le terrain ! Si vous voulez me mettre un 10, y’a le lien plus haut pour CMON.

It’s about time for an update really, over 3 weeks since my last post. I’ve been working on a couple of commissions and on my next release which explains the lack of update as I don’t like to show too many unfinished things. Anyway, this is what’s on the painting table at the moment. It’s a fantastic kit and can only recommend it, figures are greats, lots of options and bits. They’re painted in the same colours as my previous Stonehorn which make things quicker as I don’t have to think too much about the palette. I’ll finish them soon and will update next on my future release which will be a saloon.


Plus de 3 semaines depuis mon dernier message, non je n’ai pas disparu, j’étais juste réticent à montrer les quelques commandes sur lesquelles je travaille. Je suis donc en train de peindre cette cavalerie, vraiment superbe comme kit, beaucoup de combinaisons possibles. Je les ai peint de la même couleur que le « Stonehorn » du mois dernier ce qui est bien car cela m’évite d’avoir à trop réfléchir pour une nouvelle palette. Je pense les finir bientôt et poster après cela sur ma prochaine sortie qui sera un saloon western.

Made it on time! This is my entry for the Hasslefree competition on Wamp. I’m quite pleased with the overall look of the team although it stands no chance of making a top 3. The standard for these competitions is a bit higher than my tabletop painting but I enjoy participating and it does motivate me to improve my painting and digging a hole in the lead pile.

It was a pleasure to paint and you’ve to say that Kev White sculpts the best female miniatures. No argument!


Pile à l’heure ! Voila l’équipe de Bloodbowl que j’ai peint pour la compétition Hasslefree sur le forum Wamp. Dans l’ensemble je suis assez satisfait du résultat même si elle n’a aucune chance de faire le podium. Le niveau de peinture de ces compétitions est assez relevé, plus en tout cas que mon niveau « tabletop » mais bon l’essentiel c’est de participer, puis ca me permet de m’améliorer et de faire un trou dans ma pile de plomb.

Quoiqu’il en soit, ce fut un plaisir de peindre ces figurines, Kev White est vraiment un des meilleurs sculpteurs de caractères féminins !

A quick update about what’s been painted. I’m still working on the well and some new bases but I'm trying to make some progress on this Blood bowl team as it’s for a painting competition. No hope of winning anything as I’m going for decent table top painting but the comp. is a good excuse to get these done. It’s going to be tight to be honest, deadline is the 27th. We’ll see…

I went for subtle colours: bright pink and bright blue; I thought I’d copy the blog colours. All of the highlights still to do, bases, eyes and I would like to try some free hand and create some patterns on the helmets.


Une petite mise à jour rapide sur ce que j’ai peints récemment. Je suis toujours en train de travailler sur le puits et les nouveaux socles mais j’essaie de bosser sur cette équipe de Bloodbowl des que j’ai une minute vu que c’est pour une compétition. Ca ne gagnera rien vu que je fais une peinture « Tabletop » mais c’est une bonne excuse pour la finir. Ca doit être prêt pour le 27, ca va être tendu…

J’ai choisi des couleurs feutrées et discrètes : rose pétard et bleu azur, comme les couleurs du Blog. Il me reste tous les éclaircissements à faire ainsi que les socles, métaux, yeux et je veux aussi peindre des motifs sur les casques.

I finished it last week end as the deadline for the competition was this Monday. Having seen the other entries in the contest, well, no chance lol…Anyway, it was a good practice at making conversions and painting, particularly the eyes as I tried different styles fir the different creatures on the diorama. I like some of them but the ones on the frog didn’t really work out.
I could have re-worked some of it and add 3-4 hours work on it but never mind, move on to the next thing...
I still love that mini though.



Il fallait rendre sa copie ce lundi donc j’ai fini l’animal le weekend dernier. Apres avoir vu les autres participants, autant le dire de suite, j’ai aucune chance lol. Pas grave, c’était un bon exercice sur certains points : conversions et peinture des yeux, surtout les yeux car j’ai essayé différentes techniques sur les créatures du socle. Ca n’a pas trop bien fonctionné sur le crapaud ce qui est dommage, il m’aurait fallu rajouter 3-4 heures de travail dessus mais bon, temps de passer à autre chose…
La figurine me plait toujours autant ceci dit.

A quick WIP picture I took this morning while I was doing a series of pictures for other stuff. Isn’t he a handsome dwarf??? Mini from Enigma Miniatures, one of my all times favourite manufacturer. I wasn’t planning of showing a wip for so little but I had the picture so…

I’ve been using it to practice a few mix of colours I’ll be using for a whole unit later. It's actually very much inspired from the studio paintjob of that particular mini.I’m not planning on spending 24 hours on it so I’ll just finish highlights + metals, a few glazes here and there and basta. I think I’ll base it on a base from one of my sets. We’ll see…



Je prenais des photos en série ce matin pour d’autres projets et j’ai pris une photo du bonhomme vu qu’il était sur la planche. N’est-il pas magnifique ??? Figurine de chez Enigma, une de mes marques préférées. Donc voila, travail en cours, vu que j’avais la photo...

Je l’ai utilisé pour pratiquer une combinaison de couleurs que j’utiliserais plu tard sur une unité. En fait, c’est largement inspiré de la peinture studio de cette pièce même.Je ne vais pas passer 24 heures dessus donc la suite ca sera éclaircissements + métaux, quelques glacis par ci par la et puis basta. Pour le socle. J’utiliserais une pièce d’un de mes sets, je pense. On verra…

WAMP are organizing a painting contest sponsored by Dark Sword. I wasn’t planning on entering but while I was browsing their store I had a real “coup de Coeur” for the Frog Wizard. I don’t know what it is about him, maybe because it contains 2 of my lifelong passions: frogs and wizards.

Anyway, that’s what I’ll be entering. No chance of winning anything considering the level of painters on that forum but it is good fun and I like having deadlines: 27th June if anybody else is interested.

As it turns out I’m not the only one having a bit of a passion for frogs and wizards. Internet is full of it!!! I’ve done a bit of a photomontage for inspiration. On it, you can see the original miniature. I’ve removed the base (hard work on a metal mini) and the artefact he was holding in his right hand. I’ve replaced the artefact by a Bat-frog with Cyclops eye (technical name). If you look closely on the mini, you can see there is already one crawling on his right foot. The sculpting was a good practice.

For the base, I decided to do an all tiled thing, hence the removing of the original base. I’ll add a small fountain (the wizard picking the Bat-frog from it). The fountain is from WYRD and I’ve added a turtle in it (Turtles being the best friends of Bat-frogs: fact!). I also attempted to sculpt a small frog. It looks much exaggerated, big eyes and round; don’t know if I’ll keep it.

Now onto painting, I think I’m going to go for a dark blue skin type frog like the little one on the photomontage!!!





Wamp organisent un concours de peinture sponsorisé par Dark Sword. Je n’avais pas l’intention d’y participer mais en fouillant sur leur catalogue j’ai eu un gros coup de cœur pour le crapaud-magicien. Je ne pourrais pas expliquer pourquoi j’adore cette figurine mais c’est peut être parce qu’elle contient 2 de mes plus grandes passions : les crapauds et les magiciens.

Bref, c’est la mini que je vais présenter. Vu le niveau des peintres sur ce forum, aucune chance de gagner quoique que ce soit mais c’est sympa de participer et puis j’aime bien avoir des dates bien définies pour terminer quelque chose : le 27 juin si ca intéresse des gens.

Apparemment je ne suis pas le seul à être passionné par les crapauds et les magiciens : l’internet en regorge. J’ai fais un petit montage pour l’inspiration. Dessus, Il y a la figurine originale. J’ai enlevé le socle d’origine (galère sur du métal) et l’artefact qu’il tenait dans sa main droite. Je j’ai remplacé par un Crapaud-chauve-souris avec un œil de cyclope (terme technique). Si vous regardez de plus prés sur la figurine originale, vous verrez qu’il y en a déjà un qui grouille sur son pied droit. C’était un bon entrainement pour la sculpture.

Pour le socle, j’ai décidé de faire une base dallée, d’où l’obligation d’enlever le socle de base. J’ajouterais une fontaine (le magicien piochant le Crapaud-chauve-souris de l’eau grouillante). La fontaine est de la gamme WYRD et j’ai rajouté une tortue dedans (les tortues étant les meilleures amies des Crapaud-chauve-souris : c’est un fait !). J’ai aussi essayé de sculpter un petit crapaud. Il est très caricatural, gros yeux, très rond ; je ne sais pas si je vais le garder.

A la peinture maintenant !!! Je crois que je vais faire une peau bleue avec taches noires comme la petite grenouille sur le montage !!!

A quick update about what I’ve been up to. I’ve mainly been painting scenery and revamping the pictures of the stuff I’m selling. I also found some time to make some progress on Layla. It’s a really enjoyable mini to paint so I’m taking my time with it. The gold lining on the horse is a bit of a hassle however and I still need to highlight/shadow it.

I apologize for the quick picture but I don’t really have a spot dedicated to taking pictures yet. I’m about to move house so hopefully I’ll be able to set up one in the next house.

Anyway, still lots to do on that one!!!


Une petite mise à jour rapide…J’ai essentiellement peint des décors cette semaine et ai travaillé sur mes photos pour EBay. J’ai aussi réussi à caser quelques heures sur Layla. Qu’est ce que j’adore cette mini !!! Alors je prends mon temps avec^^. Le surlignage à l’or sur le cheval a été un peu galère et c’est pas fini, je dois encore faire des ombres/éclaircissements dessus.

Je m’excuse pour la photo à l’arrache mais je n’ai pas d’endroit dédié à la photo chez moi donc c’est un peu tout un trafic quand je dois faire des photos décentes. Je dois bientôt déménager donc j’espère que je pourrais m’organiser un coin « studio photo ».

Bref, encore pas mal de boulot dessus !!!

I’ve not updated for a while about what I’m doing so here we go. I just started painted this mini (the name is in the title) from Hell Dorado. I’ve to say this is one of my all-time favourite miniatures. The sculpt is beautiful, very elegant, I love the Arabic/feminine/cartoonish style and I can’t remember seeing a more beautiful horse.
I’m going to try to keep the studio paint colours. It’s going to be a great practice at whites: greenish/jade creamy white for the robes and grey white for the horse. I’m thinking of sculpting an Egyptian inspired base for it, we’ll see…


Ca faisait un moment que je n’avais rien montré de ce que je fais en ce moment sur le blog alors voila! Je viens juste de commencer à peindre cette figurine de chez Hell Dorado (nom à dormir dehors…). Je dois avouer que ca doit être une de mes figurines préférées. La sculpture est excellente, très élégante, j’adore le cote arabe/féminin/cartooniste et je ne me souviens pas avoir vu un meilleur cheval ou que ce soit.
Je vais essayer de garder les couleurs du studio. Ca devrait être un bon exercice de peinture des blancs : vert/jade blanc crème pour la robe et gris-blanc pour le cheval. J’essaierais de sculpter un socle à thème égyptien, on verra…

So that was a bit of a trial painting and I would appreciate some feedback on it. I’m not fishing for compliments, I’m planning on selling those eventually so I would like to know what people objectively think of it. Now please bear in mind that this is not a GD entry (or Crystal Brush following the trend) and I don’t have time to blend each tile individually. I was trying to achieve a good solid tabletop standard, fairytale like (hence the bright colours) as this is rather more fantasy medieval than realistic medieval. I do apologize again for the not so great pictures but I think you should still be able to judge the painting.

As far as the building goes, I’m not going to change much, just the thickness of windows. Regarding the painting, I will base coat it in black to avoid the silly white dots under the tiles. I think I’ll drop the gold on the windows, maybe a couple of more highlights on the walls and tiles but that’s pretty much it. The wood looks dull on the pictures but it’s actually quite alright in the “flesh”.



Bon c’était plutôt un essai peinture donc j’apprécierais des critiques. Je ne suis pas à la recherche de compliments, je prévois de vendre ces maisons donc j’aimerais bien des avis objectifs. Cependant gardez à l’esprit qu’il ne s’agit pas d’une entrée GD et que je n’ai pas le temps de passer 30 mn par tuile. Je recherchais un bon effet Tabletop, des couleurs plutôt conte de fée (d’où les couleurs vives) vu que c’est plutôt une maison médiéval fantasy. Je m’excuse encore pour la pauvre qualité des photos.

En ce qui concerne le bâtiment, je ne vais pas changer grand-chose, juste l’épaisseur des fenêtres. Pour la peinture, je mettrais une sous couche noire la prochaine fois pour éviter les petits points blancs sous les tuiles. Je pense que je ne referais pas l’or sur les fenêtres, peut être éclaircir un peu plus les murs et tuiles. Le bois n’a pas l’air super sur les photos mais il est pas mal en vrai.

I finished the human team last week end. I did a bit of a quick job, decent table top standard I think. They’re not the greatest miniatures to be honest; I had a lot more fun painting the orcs. I just need to paint a few balls and it’s all ready for action.

Next, besides the scenery stuff, is that lovely little miniature from Hasslefree called Heyu, wizard apprentice puffing and carrying a huge pile of books. I’m planning on using him as a reference miniature for my scenery stuff to give an idea of the scale, so I have to do a good job on this one.

Je viens juste de terminer l’équipe humaine. Ca a été fait assez rapidement, niveau table top je pense. Ce ne sont pas les plus belles miniatures qu’il soit et je me suis beaucoup plus régalé à peindre les orques. Il ne me reste plus qu’à peindre quelques ballons et je suis ready pour l’action !!!

Ensuite, à part les décors, je dois faire Heyu, l’assistant magicien qui pouffe et prote une pile de livres, de chez Hasslefree. Je vais l’utiliser pour le mettre sur mes photos de décors et donner une idée de l’échelle donc je dois faire quelque chose de bien sur celle la.

I finished that mini from Hasslefree last week end and that was my entry for the Irregular Painting Competiton. I spent a lot of time on the base and a lot less on the miniature itself. It does show on some areas. I’m really not happy with the face particularly; I could have restarted it but decided to move on. Anyway hope you like it…


J’ai fini ce diorama ce weekend et je l’ai entré dans la compétion de peinture du magazine Irregular. J’ai passé pas mal de temps sur le socle et moins sur figurine^^. Ca se voit sur certaines parties. Je ne suis vraiment pas content du visage ; j’aurais pu recommencer mais j’ai eu la flemme. J’espère que ca vous plaira…

There is a quick update of a wip that will be my entry for the Irregular Magazine Competition. The theme is Sci-fi heroes and I didn’t have anything immediately fitting so I went a bit off rail. I had that mini from Hasslefree called “Jenny” (not the most obvious Heroic name) and decided to put her together with some kind of a servant/partner .The only thing I could find from the bit box was a turtle. As a pair I do think they look like probable sci-fi heroes. The deadline is at the end of the month so we’ll see how that goes!

Voila une des pièces sur lesquelles je travaille en ce moment et qui sera mon modèle pour la compétition Irreular. Le thème est les Héros de Science-fiction et je n’avais pas quelques chose qui allait complètement donc j’ai divergé un petit peu. J’avais cette figurine de chez Hasslefree qui s’appelle « Jenny » (pas vraiment un prénom de super héros) et j’ai décidé de l’associer à un servant/partenaire. Tout ce que j’ai pu trouvé dans mon stock : une tortue^^. Comme paire je pense que ca colle au thème ou est probable au moins. A quick update of what I’ve been painting over the week-end. First of all I apologize for the horrendous Orc picture. I took a lot of pictures of different things and didn’t have the energy to take some more so it’ll have to do. I didn’t make a lot of progress on both (the fountain + Orcs) but as I use this blog as self motivating I still update for it. The fountain is pretty much painted but I still have to finish the water effect. I think I’ll add some moss and water lilies.
However there is still a lot of work to do on the Orcs. I played a bit with some acrylic resin to make some fresh looking mud. I also spent quite some time on trying to create a white that’s kind of warm and slightly dirty. I still have all of the details to do: black/white patterns, eyes, bases, metals and leather. It should be done before deadline though…hopefully.



Un petit message rapide pour mettre à jour mes peintures du week-end. D’abord je tiens à m’excuser pour la photo ignoble des Orques. J’ai pris beaucoup de photos ce week-end et je n’ai pas eu le courage de recommencer. Je n’ai pas fais beaucoup de progrès sur les différents projets (les orques de Bloodbowl + fontaine) mais vu que j’utilise le blog pour me motiver je mets quand même à jour. La fontaine est presque finie à part pour les effets d’eau. Je pense rajouter des nénuphars et de la mousse.
Pour les Orques par contre c’est pas le même histoire, il reste beaucoup à faire. Je me suis amusé avec de la résine acrylique pour faire de la boue fraiche. J’ai aussi passé pas mal de temps à créer un blanc plutôt chaud et légèrement sale. Il me reste tous les détails à faire : Carreaux noir/blanc, yeux, socles, métaux et le cuir. Ca devrait être fini à temps par contre…enfin on verra^^

That’s my second update on that paint along thing happening at Wamp. I finished the base and am ready to start painting the actual mini. The mushroom looks quite different from the tutorial but I couldn’t really find the corresponding colours as he’s using the Reaper range which I’m really not familiar with.
I also tried some acrylic resin to create wet mud which you can’t really see on the picture but it’s there. I’ll definitely try this again.

I’ve also been painting a couple of doors I sculpted last week. I’ll use the open one as the entrance for the library.




Ma deuxième mise à jour sur ce « Paint Along » qui a lieu sur le site de Wamp. J’ai fini le socle et je suis prés à commencer à peindre la figurine. Le champignon est assez différent de celui du tutoriel mais je galérais trop à comprendre les couleurs qu’il utilise (peinture Reaper que je ne connais pas trop).
J’ai aussi essayé de la résine acrylique pour créer de la boue malheureusement on ne la voit pas sur la photo mais elle est bien la. Je réessaierais ce produit par contre.
J’ai aussi peint une paire de portes que j’ai sculptées la semaine dernière. J’utiliserais la porte ouverte pour la bibliothèque.

They’ve got a subscription system which I think is quite the bargain. You just need to pay $70 to start then $8 every additional month. I started to watch a couple and they’re very good. You can cancel anytime, still you get to keep the downloads. I just need to find about 24 more hours per day now!


Un lien sympa pour une compagnie sympa : Miniature Mentor. Ils vendent des vidéos tutoriels pour peindre et sculpter. Il y a un système d’abonnement qui n’est vraiment pas cher, je trouve. Ca coute 70$ + 8$ par mois et donne un accès 24/24 à leur collection. J’ai commencé à en regarder quelqu’une et c’est de très bonne qualité, reste plus qu’ à rallonger les jours de 24h au moins^^.
