Some New Cartoons

Peace In 2009 by ~ davidbdr on deviant ART It doesn't appear that 2009 will be any more peaceful. My New Year's wish is for all people to lay down their arms. Humanity could accomplish so much more if we solved problems together. Stop supporting arms dealers and manufacturers. We have to solve world hunger and drinking water depletion. Fight Capitalist privatization of human necessities! My Crappy Ass Obama Cartoon

Ain’t It The Truth!

Johnstown PA Jackass

Click on image to see entire video This dumb-ass seems to be getting around on the video sites. Nothing could be better for this piece of shit. In the video, this fool is happy to display his “Obama Monkey” to someone with a home video cam (I guess this dimwit never heard of video sharing sites) but as soon as he noticed national news zeroing in on him, he ditched the doll to some child. How generous of him. These are the people Rep. John Murtha was referring to and Gov. Rendell claims “there’s only a few of”.

Right Wing Silliness

I found this on a wing-nut blog. The closer the election gets, the more braying about Obama being a Communist I find on blogs written by American knuckle draggers. I don’t know if this image was done for a humor site but it is finding its way onto the loonie Right’s blogs apparently.

Ah, Sweet Middle America!

Misinformation is higher education in the USA How can so many Americans be so stupid and uninformed? The guy at the end is right to be frightened of the violent possibilities of these people. They are capable of anything but intelligent thought!

Red Smear Campaign

From My Cartoons My latest cartoon. The Republicans and the Right-Wing in the USA have been trying to paint Obama as a Communist or a Socialist for some time. Is he? Who knows. I suspect he was a typical college Marxist who forgot all the idealism as soon as graduation came and the big bucks started coming in. I live near a big college town and I've seen a lot of those types.

Soviet political cartoonist Yefimov dies at 108

REUTERS Yefimov 'survived not because of Stalin's generosity of soul, but because his talents as a cartoonist' Wed Oct 1, 4:38 PM ET MOSCOW - Celebrated political cartoonist Boris Yefimov, who drew brutally satirical images of the Soviet Union's foes in the service of Josef Stalin, died Wednesday. He was 108. Yefimov's death was given wide coverage on Russian state television. No cause was given. His cartoons spanned virtually the entire history of the communist state, from shortly after the 1917 revolution to the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991. Among his most memorable drawings was one showing a wretched-looking Hitler, who is said to have ordered Yefimov shot if the Nazis captured Moscow in World War II. Instead, Yefimov was sent after the war to the Nuremburg trials to draw the Nazis as they faced justice. Yefimov also turned his pen against the United States. His Cold War drawings po...

Russian parliamentarian demands end of U.S. blockade of Cuba

MOSCOW, September 29.— Ivan Melnikov, the Russian vice president of Parliament, has called on the United States to end its economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba, in place for almost 50 years, and the repeal of the anti-Cuban Helms-Burton Act. Speaking at the Parliamentary Assembly of the European Council in Strasbourg in the name of the European United Left, Melnikov harshly criticized the policy of economic siege used to directly pressure sovereign states, Prensa Latina reports. The persistence of the blockade constitutes discrimination against Cuba and third countries, the likewise vice president of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation said, referring to commercial sanctions included in the Helms-Burton Act.   Melnikov asked the Parliamentary Assembly’s Bureau to ask the U.S. government to repeal its discriminatory and anti-Cuban laws, including the Torricelli Act. At the same time, the communist leader exposed how Washington, acting as if it wished...

So Long, Rick Wright 1943-2008

See you on the dark side of the moon... Richard Wright, founding member, vocalist, and keyboardist of the rock group Pink Floyd, has died. He was 65. Wright met Pink Floyd members Roger Waters and Nick Mason in college and joined their early band, Sigma 6. Along with the late Syd Barrett, the four formed Pink Floyd in 1965.

Caricature Of Kim Jong-il by ~ davidbdr on deviant ART Selected Cartoon Dr. Strangejong or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb While Stalinist despot Kim Jong Il is making his depleted country and his world's fifth largest army (1.2 mill. soldiers) ready for the nuclear age, a unique art exhibition is running in the Art Center Berlin: " Art from Pyongyang " . The artworks are made with loving hands, yet mostly kitschy and available for buyers with little money. They almost seem to be off this world. Among the exhibits are artworks with a clearly propagandistic statement - without compromising the capitalist enemy USA. In the work "Kim-Jong-iL", artist David Baldinger addresses the leader with a clear statement: Kim is the despot who is gone berserk, the one who spends the national budget for his military despite the big poverty in his country - his eyes always pointed at the atom. He's the little boy who spends his lunch money ...

Very Short Animation Test

Watch more cool animation and creative cartoons at aniBoom \ I've been playing with an animation software called "Creatoon." The program simulates cut-out style animation. It has some odd quirks but is really simple (which I like very much). This test was done to work out some movement problems I was having. Sometimes elements of characters would drift in directions I didn't intend. I think I've figured out that headache. This program is now free to download at Creatoon since it is no longer being developed. Many professional television programs around the world were produced using this software. It would be nice if the company would release the code so it could be further developed. A way to lip sync would be great. Sound files can be imported for use while animating but the sound can only be " scrubbed ."

"Peanuts" animator Bill Melendez dies

Dennis Kucinich "WAKE UP AMERICA!!!" Dems Convention 2008

Congressman Kucinich shows the energy needed to not only wake up America but the Democratic Party. A serious mistake the Dems are making is trying to be too civil to Sen. John McCain. Stop prefacing every thing with what a "good friend" he is and 'how great a man he is." Why should anyone not vote for him if even his opponents are kneeling down before him? This is politics, Democrats. Stop being wimps and start beating the Republicans back into the hole they belong.

What Kincaid Won't Tell You About Obama's 'Mentor'

I post this because it is important to counter the virus-like spread of Cliff Kincaid's anti-Obama propaganda. Cliff Kincaid's Aug. 15 Accuracy in Media column proclaims that the Barack Obama campaign's debunking of Jerome Corsi's Obama-bashing book "acknowledges on ... that the mysterious “Frank” in Obama’s 1995 book, Dreams From My Father, is in fact the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) member Frank Marshall Davis," insisting that the admission "can only add to growing public concern about Obama’s relationship with a Communist pawn of Moscow who was the subject of security investigations by the FBI and various congressional committees which examined Soviet activities in the U.S." In an Aug. 17 column , Kincaid complains that the Obama campaign's debunking "doesn’t identify Davis as a hard-core communist and it dishonestly edits an article about Davis to eliminate references to his admitted involvement in CPUSA activities and make t...

Only Happens When Those With Start being Like The Rest Of Us Without

Then Back in the early 1990's, when President Clinton tried to reform health care in the US, the middle class who were happy with their health care went spastic over the idea of a more national plan. Even the slightest whiff of Socialism has most Americans ripping their eyes out and gnashing their teeth! The old ad above got it almost right. Instead of a government plan being responsible for lack of care, it is private insurers that have raised costs and cut coverage. Suddenly, these many years later, the middle class are finding themselves being screwed out of health care.  Some how, all those "falling through the cracks" have become a concern. I hope all of you morons from the 90's who opposed any reforms are enjoying the massive bills and lack of care you are receiving now. Now I knew this a long time ago--once those with started feeling the pain, the real action would be demanded. Don't expect that action to come from John McCain! All I can say ...

An Open Letter: Father To Father

Bassam Aramin writing from occupied Jerusalem, Live from Palestine, 7 August 2008   Ahmed Mousa (facing camera) photographed four hours before he was shot and killed by Israeli forces. ( palestinesolidarityproject.org )   Dear Hisam, father of Ahmed, may he rest in peace, I learned of the death of your son, Ahmed Musa , through a one-sentence newsflash on the Palestinian news station Ma'an last Tuesday: "Ahmed Musa, a young boy, was killed by a bullet of the occupying forces in Nil'in." I was immediately overcome with shock and grief and bitter tears. And above all, that relentless feeling of powerlessness that I know too well. We Palestinians cannot protect our children from being killed. Not because they are soldiers on the battlefield, but because we cannot imprison them in our homes. They must live their lives, play outside the house, go to school. We tell ourselves that there must be in our land a safe place to protect our little ones. Should not our...

Idiot Repugs Screech About Obama's Missing Flag

Apparently all the wing-nuts blogging throughout the secret basements complex of the Ministry Of Propaganda hoped that they had found another "swift boat" moment to use on Obama. These people are terrified of him for some reason (and I believe it really has to do with race) and are desperately trying to derail Obama's presidential chances. The vomiting out of hundreds of cut and past articles by these bloggers about Obama's supposed Leftist and Communist ties have been polluting the web for months. How about the whisper campaign that Obama is really a Muslim and the fist bump being a "terrorist" fist "jab". Just do a search since I really don't want to provide a link to anything these buffoons post. The latest non-scandal is that Obama's repainted Boeing 757 no longer sports the US flag on it's tail. His campaign logo has replaced it. This must be another example of Obama's lack of patriotism (fuck, I'm sick of hearing that ...

Israeli Claims over Journalist Challenged

Published on Friday, July 18, 2008 by Inter Press Service by Sanjay Suri / Mel Frykberg LONDON - Medical reports seen by IPS appear to confirm the testimony of IPS Gaza correspondent Mohammed Omer of physical abuse at the hands of Israelis last month.0718 04 1 Omer said he was physically and mentally abused at the Allenby crossing into Gaza while on his way back from a European tour. In London, he was awarded the Martha Gellhorn prize for investigative reporting.Omer left for Europe through an agreement secured by Dutch diplomats to escort him in and out of Gaza. The abuse was reported Jun. 26 as Omer was searched at the crossing in Israeli custody while a Dutch diplomat waited outside. According to Omer’s testimony, he was forced to strip by an Israeli officer wearing a police uniform. He was pinned down on the floor with a boot on the neck. He says he collapsed during interrogation, and when he came round his eyelids were being forcibly opened. He was then dragged along ...

The Real Legacy Of The ‘Reagan Revolution’

Posted on Jul 15, 2008 By Robert Scheer McCain campaign co-chair Phil Gramm is right: We have “become a nation of whiners.” But who is whining more than the bankers that former Sen. Gramm’s financial deregulation legislation benefited? The very bankers who now expect a government bailout, such as those at UBS Investment Bank, where Gramm found lucrative employment. As chair of the powerful Senate Banking Committee, Gramm engineered passage of legislation that effectively ended the major regulatory restraints applied to the financial industry in response to the Great Depression. The purpose of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act—co-authored by Gramm, passed in 1999 by a Republican-controlled Congress and signed by President Bill Clinton—was to liberate the banks, stockbrokers and insurance companies from restraints imposed on their activities more than seven decades ago. It was legislation that the financial community, which contributed heavily to Gramm’s...

Impeachment Resolution: First Reading Today

Impeachment Resolution: First Reading Today Dear Friends, This afternoon, at approximately 5 p.m. (EDT), the Clerk of the House of Representatives will give the first reading of the Article of Impeachment of President George Bush. Article One charges the President with deceiving Congress with fabricated threats of Iraq WMDs to fraudulently obtain support for an authorization of the use of military force against Iraq. Once the Clerk reads the bill, I will move to refer the bill to the Judiciary Committee for hearings. I believe the American people have a right to an open airing of the charges against this President. Did he or did he not lie to take us into a war? I believe the evidence is overwhelming that President Bush knew that Iraq was not an imminent threat, was not in possession of WMDs at the time, and had nothing to do with 911 or with al Queda's role in 911. And yet, despite having facts to the contrary, he took the U.S. into war with devastating consequences for o...

LAST DAY TO SIGN THIS IMPORTANT PETITION

This is a special appeal to sign the following Petition addressed to Condoleezza Rice. It will be presented to her early tomorrow….. Petition to End Israel’s Restrictions on Freedom of Movement and the Press To: Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice U.S. Department of State 2201 C Street NW Washington, DC 20520 We, the undersigned, condemn Israel’s appalling treatment of Palestinian journalist Mohammed Omer, Washington Report on Middle East Affairs Gaza correspondent and author of the magazine’s regular feature, “Gaza on the Ground.” The 24-year-old Palestinian journalist was brutally assaulted by Israeli Shin Bet security officials at the Allenby Bridge border crossing on his way home to Gaza on June 26. He had just received the 2008 Martha Gellhorn Prize for Journalism, which he shared with independent American journalist Dahr Jamail. Omer’s award citation reads, “Every day, he reports from a war zone, where he is also ...

ISRAELIS BEAT AND TORTURE RETURNING JOURNALIST, MOHAMMED OMER

Originally posted by my good friend in Israel, Desert Peace . Make a point of reading his site daily! UPDATE from IPS NEWS… just published. My dear friend and brother Mohammed Omer returned to his native Gaza Strip on Thursday… literally unconscious and unable to speak after being beaten and tortured by Israeli troops. He is still unable to speak so I was not able to communicate with him, I will be posting updates on his condition in future posts. Mohammed was in Britain, where he was the recipient of a prize for journalism. You can read about it HERE in a post I wrote earlier in the week. Mohammed’s ordeal is written about in an Action Alert issued by the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs , a journal in which he appears regularly. Gaza Correspondent Mohammed Omer Home Again in Rafah At a June 16 ceremony in London, Mohammed Omer, author of the regular Washington Report feature “Gaza on the Ground,” received the 2008 Martha Gellhorn Pri...

Computer Death!

I am lost at sea! My computer finally finally bereft of life. I am unable to do any graphics since I am limited to my wife's laptop. I was planning on taking a break away from the computer anyway. It has been consuming too much of my time. It is actually a relief to not be able to do anything other than email and web surfing. Maybe I can rediscover what doing art on real paper with real materials was like.

Why, Israel, Why?

"Now we have nothing left" Report, PCHR, 28 May 2008 Nasser Jaber ( PCHR ) "They came at four in the morning with two bulldozers, and they left before 8:00am. I own this chicken farm with my three brothers, and we worked day and night for 18 years to build up our business. The Israelis destroyed everything in less than four hours." Nasser Jaber's chicken farm was bulldozed by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) 10 days ago, in the early morning hours of 16 May, while he was sleeping at home in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip. He still looks stunned. Wearily, he guides us round the ruins of his 18-year business. "This was a lifetime project for me and my brothers" he says as we clamber over rubble, wire, shattered sheets of metal and thousands of putrefying chickens. "I have never belonged to any political faction, and I have never been to jail. I don't know why they did this." The farm workers who are starting to clear some of th...

The new McCarthyism Cartoon

The New McCarthyism by ~ davidbdr on deviant ART Since a histrionic article about Barack Obama's childhood friendship with the African-American, Communist? poet and journalist, Frank Marshall Davis [link] appeared on the vile AIM (Accuracy In Media) website, [link] the guilt by association charge of being either a Marxist or socialist has been repeated ad nauseum by the Right-Wing hacks of the blogosphere about Obama. Apparently, Obama is a secret Commie mole working for the Communist Party USA to destroy this shining gem of Democracy into a Red gulag. The whole idea would be laughable if it were not for the fact that a large percentage of the US voting public are simpletons with no grasp of history or the reality of their own country. This BS is only going to become more ridiculous as the Right attempt to scuttle Obama's presidential chances. They really fear his intelligence and masterful oratory skills. I can't wait to see the "debates between Obama and McCain....

Folksinger, Storyteller, Railroad Tramp Utah Phillips Dead At 73

The official Obituary as provided by the family. May 24, 2008 Utah Phillips, a seminal figure in American folk music who performed extensively and tirelessly for audiences on two continents for 38 years, died Friday of congestive heart failure in Nevada City, California a small town in the Sierra Nevada mountains where he lived for the last 21 years with his wife, Joanna Robinson, a freelance editor. Born Bruce Duncan Phillips on May 15, 1935 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of labor organizers. Whether through this early influence or an early life that was not always tranquil or easy, by his twenties Phillips demonstrated a lifelong concern with the living conditions of working people. He was a proud member of the Industrial Workers of the World, popularly known as "the Wobblies," an organizational artifact of early twentieth-century labor struggles that has seen renewed interest and growth in membership in the last decade, not in small part due to his efforts to popu...

Reflections Of Fidel: The Empire’s Hypocritical Politics

Granma International IT would be dishonest of me to remain silent after hearing the speech Obama delivered on the afternoon of May 23 at the Cuban American National Foundation created by Ronald Reagan. I listened to his speech, as I did McCain’s and Bush’s. I feel no resentment towards him, for he is not responsible for the crimes perpetrated against Cuba and humanity. Were I to defend him, I would do his adversaries an enormous favor. I have therefore no reservations about criticizing him and about expressing my points of view on his words frankly. What were Obama’s statements? "Throughout my entire life, there has been injustice and repression in Cuba. Never, in my lifetime, have the people of Cuba known freedom. Never, in the lives of two generations of Cubans, have the people of Cuba known democracy. (…) This is the terrible and tragic status quo that we have known for half a century – of elections that are anything but free or fair (…) I won't stand for this injustic...
