I’ve spent a thousand hours in this game, and I have a lot to say about it. I’ve unlocked every achievement, all available cards and prestiges (except for those that can only be awarded by the developers). The game is incredibly engaging — I really enjoyed the prestige system and the rewards in the form of animated and non-animated cards. In my collection, I’ve gathered 20 basic and 20 special cards. At some point you stop feeling like a ghost hunter and start feeling more like a collector of rare Pokémon 😁. If you enjoy leveling up and earning rewards, this game will definitely be for you.

Pros:

✅ Long and engaging progression — the game features a level system with prestiges, the maximum being 20. I reached this level over 600+ hours, playing on very high difficulty levels, fully mastering the mechanics and earning all possible rewards. This highlights how the game motivates you to keep coming back and gradually explore all its content;
✅ Engaging gameplay that is fun to explore and learn the mechanics;
✅ Variety of difficulty modes: in early games, it can be tricky to get the hang of the mechanics, but it becomes easier with experience;
✅ Can be played both solo and with friends;
✅ Frequent updates, with promises of new maps and expansions.

The especially unpleasant part is the game lobby with real people — that’s a story of its own. You’ll often run into insults, provocations, foul language, and baseless accusations. Sometimes it’s kids, sometimes adults — all without the slightest clue who I am or how I play. It’s tough, and sometimes it feels like the real demons aren’t on the map but in the voice chat. It would be great if the developers added an option to kick toxic players not only in the lobby but also during the game. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or a pro. This isn’t even a flaw of the game; it’s more a reflection of modern society, where many unfortunately lack morality, respect, and culture.

Cons:

❌ Bugs: sometimes when you mute one player (if they deserve it), it also affects other teammates, and they can’t hear me for the entire game;
❌ Random/Unexpected voice issues: sometimes when entering the lobby or starting a game, either I can’t hear others, or others can’t hear me, even if no one was muted. Occasionally, voice chat stops working for everyone.

Despite these issues, the game delivers a tense and immersive horror experience that keeps you on edge. So if you love horror games with jump scares, as well as games with leveling and rewards, Phasmophobia is definitely for you. It combines a chilling atmosphere with a sense of progress, so playing is both fun and scary at the same time. Just be ready that in the game lobby, someone might insult you out of nowhere.
