Given the word of mouth it has, you don't need me to say that this game abounds in charm -- but all the same, I'll say it. With graphics reminiscent of Day of the Tentacle, Castle of Dr. Brain, and Pajama Sam, it feels like a familiar adventure... which of course is precisely the sleight of hand that sets up the magic trick. Thematically, the game borrows from The Stanley Parable; tonally, I think Homestar Runner must have been an inspiration (even the voice over reminds me of Strong Bad). Somehow, it mostly all works, with some nice gentle jabs at various genres of games (and less gentle jabs rightly thrown at F2P games).

The only fly in the ointment is the inexplicable decision not to let you advance dialogues by clicking. This has been a feature in such games for decades, and with good reason. The need to sit through fairly lengthy dialogues diminishes, rather than amplifies, the charm of those dialogues, since rather than enjoying the joke and then getting back to the game, you're stuck impatiently waiting for a punchline you've already read (or worse, anticipated) while the slow voice over rolls on. This is a small complaint in an otherwise very polished game (perhaps it is the polish that makes this flaw stand out), and I certainly recommend giving it a go all the same.

Hello Mark, I send you the invite cause I saw that you are still active on Steam and reviewing games and because I loved Primordia! Despite not having much experience in point'n'click adventure games (at least not as much as I'd like to have ) I enjoyed the logic behind the puzzles and ofc the atmosphere... Truly amazing. Kudos, sir! :pathos:
Strangeland is next! Cheers~ :KnightBeer:
