Fantastic game. A simple, but extremely fun colony sim, where devs actually read and fix bug reports.

Can't wait for more updates to the game.

A Faithful Reimagining
I originally played the first Duelyst, and was quite disappointed when the original servers shutdown. So, when I saw that a more refined and faster paced reboot had been released, I was pleasantly surprised. So far it seems to be very faithful to the original, and is just a quicker paced version of the game I loved. Balancing might become an issue down the road as people figure out what cards are meta, but for this beginning stage, the starting decks seem to be decently balanced. There are some other reboots of the original Duelyst on Steam, but this version stands out to me, as right now I feel the quicker pace works in the game's favor.

Content
The main mode that is offered is the ranked queue, with some smaller modes to practice and learn the basics of the game. There isn't a ton of content just yet, as it seems Solo Challenges past the first 5 levels, and the draft mode, are not in the game just yet. However, even while lacking these extra modes, the ranking system feels substantial enough.

Small Issues
There are some smaller details on the PC version that need refining, such as low quality start of battle images, some text that is a bit clipped off on cards, and the general menu UI could use a bit of a touch up. However, I haven't encountered any bugs in the gameplay so far, which is far more important.

Monetization
Just like the original, Spirit Orbs can be purchased for money, however this has been disabled on the PC version and is completely optional, as Spirit Orbs can be earned solely through playing the game. I was never too keen on this in the original, but a free game has to make money somehow.

Final Thoughts
If you liked the original, or if you enjoy card games such as Hearthstone, I highly recommend trying a few matches to see if the gameplay loop clicks with you. I see a lot of potential in this reboot and hope that updates are soon to come!

Saw the game's servers shut down. Truly a sad end for a game with such potential.

A fun and relaxing game to play when you just wanna kick back and make a city for a few hours.

The game can become quite complex, but after a few hours you will get the hang of it and won't have any major problems. The game allows you to focus on multiple things at once, with each problem you face having a number of ways to fix. Not enough electricity? Build a wind turbine. Not enough industry? Designate a new area for industry buildings to be made. A fire has broken out? Make sure you have fire stations in every area.

There is only one issue I have with the game-play. There are certain things that you just can't seem to fix. I thought maybe it was just how I made my cities, but every single time I make a new city i'm faced with the same problems. These aren't major problems that cause me to lose, but minor ones that bug me. Traffic is impossible to manage. No matter how many times I restructure my roads, it never gets any better. That can then cause vital services to just flat out not work. A big problem I had in one of my playthroughs was getting my garbage trucks to peoples' houses. The garbage trucks were getting stuck no matter where I placed the garbage dumps. In a different playthrough it was cemeteries that couldn't reach houses that were literally right next to them. This frustration has dampened my enjoyment for the game, as initially they weren't that bad as I had other problems to worry about and resolve, but once I reached the 2+ million population, it became impossible to deal with the traffic issue, even after countless hours trying to fix it. I even tried making every other type of transportation, but it still didn't fix the issues I had. It could just be me doing something wrong, but even so, it was a frustrating thing I never quite figured out how to fix.

Other than that small issue I had, I have enjoyed this game very much
