i sit and stare at it.

a glistening, almost sparkling sphere, filled with tiny colors, shapes, and words, a flowing, fighting, violent mess. it sits atop a table, tightly mounted to the brass, living hectically above the rest of nothing.

it kinda.. looks back at me.

it rotates with my motion. it flows along familiar tracts, the colors, shapes, and words aglow in a most intriguing way, a sight of inexplicable, monumental grace, a wonderful and beautiful malaise.

it blinks. i disappear completely.

a burning pain, complete and exact. inescapable, unrelatable, excruciating. the only sense of something similar to reprieve could be the pain itself, the conflagration of the self reserved to think that it might be the pain, and may have always been the pain, completely and entirely. it is, in essence, to be consumed and feel consumed and have always been consumed, all at once, all the time, forever.

it stares at me, unfeelingly, uncaringly, inexorably.

it does not know it blinked. or rather, it may conceptualize that it has blinked, but it does not understand the limits of it's perception in relation to the world it exists in. it does not know what it means to blink, or when it will blink again, and it cannot, or will not, understand the world from any other lens.

it blinks again.

a dull, effervescent pain, covered by prints of shoes and mounds of trash and tire tracks and tears of things around you, seeping through your eyes and ears and mouth, losing feeling in your arms and legs and head, all combined to let you think that you have things to work on. there is nothing, nothing but the starving truth that you may stop, and sit, and rot, and die, nothing left to help you crawl and fight and see the world for what it could be.

i cannot look away.

there is something fundamentally enamoring about it. a piece of me bestowed to it from long ago, before my time, before my place in space had ever been determined. a thought of me, lightly placed inside of it, and in trade, a thought of it, the crushing weight of all of it, chambered so, inside of me.

it blinks again.

it hurts again, but not because of how it is. it hurts because i cannot seem to understand why it is the way it is, why the world can stop and go and speed and slow and disappear completely from my view. why i stop existing when the world decides to blink, why the eyes of many seem to always feel like the same thing, why they glitter so, and why i'll never get to be the one who doesn't have to know the world can stop existing, even for a moment, when you blink.

the sheer inferno and complete destruction of my soul
the pacing of my destruction follows no schedule
no plans, no orchestration, no symphonies unto the earth
i will be undone, and will be none advanced in my undoing
to be conflagrated is to be consumed entirely
however, to become, even briefly, a light to the world
and to then lend myself to reincarnation
to rise from the ashes, reinvigorated, reinvented

the form of myself concludes to subtle, slow changes
but the figure inside, a vapid, feigning, gaseous thing
a devout striker
