Plague having thanatophobia does not matter, you gain way more progress by doing a gen with thanatophobia, than walking to a fountain, cleansing and going back to the gen to get infected and broken again. Also, when you cleanse, the plague gets the strong part of her power.

Please do not cleanse against the plague. You kept cleasing and hopping on infected gens.
