Just woke up from a 3-year coma. Finally ready to queue up some good old CS on Cobblestone and Cache… surely nothing weird happened while I was gone, right? Surely Valve didn’t delete the game, replace it with a shiny “upgrade,” remove half the maps, break the movement, and call it a day.

Anyway, brb installing… this should go great.

⭐️ Assassin’s Creed Shadows — A Fresh and Captivating Take on the Franchise

Assassin’s Creed Shadows marks a standout entry in the long‑running series, bringing players into the rich and atmospheric world of feudal Japan with compelling dual protagonists, immersive gameplay, and stunning environments that honor the series’ legacy while offering new, satisfying challenges. The game received generally favorable reviews from critics and was praised for balancing stealth, combat, and exploration in a refreshing way.

🏯 1. A Stunning Feudal Japan to Explore

One of Shadows’ greatest achievements is its beautifully realized open world set during the Sengoku period. The environments — from misty forests to snow‑covered villages and sprawling countryside — are rich in detail and atmosphere, making exploration rewarding and visually captivating. Critics have lauded its world design as one of the most immersive in the franchise.

🥷 2. Dual Protagonists With Distinct Playstyles

Shadows introduces two unique playable characters — the agile shinobi Naoe and the powerful samurai Yasuke — offering varied ways to approach missions. Naoe’s stealth and speed encourage careful planning and silenced assassinations, while Yasuke’s brute strength and combat prowess provide satisfying, impactful clashes in open battle. This duality keeps gameplay exciting and versatile.

🗡️ 3. Refined Stealth and Combat Mechanics

The game’s stealth systems and combat feel engaging and rewarding. Sneaking through shadows, using tools like kunai and grappling hooks, and executing precisely timed attacks create tense and thrilling scenarios. When open combat does break out, Yasuke’s heavy strikes and weapon variety feel powerful and impactful, making each encounter dynamic and satisfying.

🌍 4. Exploration That Rewards Curiosity

Unlike earlier entries where fast travel often revealed large sections of the map instantly, Shadows encourages active exploration. Viewpoints and hidden secrets invite players to traverse the world thoughtfully, uncovering new discoveries organically as they move through Japan’s diverse landscapes. This approach enhances the sense of adventure and discovery.

🎶 5. Immersive Audio and Presentation

The game’s audio design and soundtrack add depth to the experience, blending genre‑expanding musical themes with atmospheric environmental sounds. High‑quality voice acting — including options for full Japanese voiceover — enhances immersion, bringing the world and its characters to life in a meaningful way.

📈 6. Strong Critical Reception and Player Enthusiasm

Critics have generally responded well: Assassin’s Creed Shadows holds a Metacritic score in the “generally favorable” range, and many outlets describe it as a strong evolution of the series that honors classic Assassin’s Creed elements while introducing fresh ideas and polished gameplay.

🏁 Final Thoughts

Assassin’s Creed Shadows delivers a visually stunning, thoughtfully designed experience that blends stealth, action, and exploration in a way that both longtime fans and newcomers can appreciate. With its captivating setting, contrasting protagonists, and immersive world, Shadows stands out as one of the more memorable entries in the franchise.

Overall: ⭐ 8.5 / 10 — A beautiful and rewarding adventure that reinvigorates the Assassin’s Creed formula with style and depth.

⚠️ Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition — A Missed Opportunity Despite Nostalgia

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition promised to be the ultimate way to experience a classic RTS on modern systems, but for many players it falls short of that promise. While it bundles all campaigns and adds quality‑of‑life updates, the remaster often feels superficial, unfinished, or inadequately updated — especially compared to other “definitive” editions in the genre.

🧱 1. Superficial Remastering That Feels Rushed

Despite the “Definitive Edition” label, the upgrades in visuals and presentation are often minimal rather than transformative. Critics have pointed out that the remaster doesn’t meaningfully alter the core game systems or modernize many of the mechanics, leaving the experience feeling very similar to the original with only modest visual cleanliness.

This has led to frustration among returning players who expected a true remake rather than a modest polish and bundled expansions.

🖥️ 2. Technical and Performance Issues Persist

Even with modern 64‑bit support, performance isn’t consistently smooth in larger battles. Some performance tests and user reports suggest noticeable framerate dips and stuttering during intense combat, especially when shadows and high‑detail settings are enabled, forcing players to lower graphics just to maintain stability.

Additionally, some players have encountered crashes at launch or during gameplay, including freezes at very low FPS until verified or reset.

🐞 3. UI and Quality‑of‑Life Bugs Still Present

The remaster does introduce improvements, but quality‑of‑life issues remain. Steam community discussions include reports of icons not registering clicks, occasional build menu problems, and rare crashes returning players to the menu unexpectedly.

Mod compatibility has also been an issue — decades of popular Dawn of War mods, including Unification and other overhaul packs, are hitting bugs or camera control problems in the Definitive Edition, frustrating longtime fans of custom content.

📉 4. Mixed Reception From Fans and Critics

While some players enjoy being able to replay the classic RTS on newer systems, a vocal portion of the community felt the remaster isn’t worth full price, especially if they already own the older Anniversary Edition. Many complained that the graphical improvements are too subtle and that the publisher should have made the upgrade free for existing owners.

On review aggregators, the game holds a mixed to average score from critics, with some outlets describing it as disappointing and not fully “definitive” in execution.

📜 5. Old Bugs and Camera/AI Woes Still Linger

More refined remasters often address longstanding gameplay issues, but Dawn of War – Definitive Edition hasn’t eliminated everything that annoyed players in the original. Reviewers note stubborn pathfinding problems, occasional units getting stuck, and lingering features (or bugs in expansions like Soulstorm) that feel less polished than expected for a modern remaster.

🏁 Final Verdict

While Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition is a functional way to revisit a classic RTS, its execution leaves much to be desired:

✔ Includes all original campaigns and expansions
✔ Adds modern 64‑bit support and wider resolution options

✘ Superficial visual and gameplay upgrades
✘ Persistent performance and crash issues
✘ UI quirks and quality‑of‑life bugs remain
✘ Mixed fan reception and disappointment over price/value

Overall: ⭐ 6.5 / 10 — A nostalgic package that feels more like a polished re-release than a truly definitive remaster, and may not justify purchase for veterans without significant improvements.

⚠️ Titan Quest 2 — A Disappointing ARPG That Feels Incomplete and Underwhelming

Titan Quest 2 arrives with high expectations from fans of the original mythological action RPG, but for many players it fails to capture the magic of its predecessor and suffers from a range of early problems that make the experience feel unfinished rather than exciting.

🛠️ 1. Infuriating Loot and Inventory Systems

In a genre where loot drives progress, Titan Quest 2 often falls flat. Many players note that the loot system feels boring and uninspired, with most items failing to meaningfully impact playstyle or prompt experimentation. Enemies frequently drop items that don’t make sense or lack exciting affixes, leading to a tedious inventory full of junk that players must sift through manually. This bloated item spam becomes especially exhausting in prolonged play sessions.

⚔️ 2. Combat Lacks Impact and Fluidity

Combat — the core of any ARPG — has been criticized as feeling stiff, unresponsive, and lacking satisfying weight. Animations can seem awkward, and enemy encounters often lack variety, with basic foes like boars, wolves, and skeletons dominating early play rather than rich mythological creatures the setting promises. Compared to smoother, more impactful combat in genre peers, battles here often feel flat and less engaging.

Many players also report that dodging and ability responsiveness can feel awkward or unintuitive, which interrupts the flow of action and reduces enjoyment.

📉 3. Performance and Technical Issues Even on Good Hardware

Despite its early access status, Titan Quest 2 shows persistent performance problems for many players. Reports indicate surprisingly poor frame rates and instability even on relatively powerful graphics cards, forcing players to lower settings just to maintain a steady experience — a frustration on modern PC hardware.

These hiccups, combined with occasional crashes and glitches (such as enemies vanishing instantly upon death), make the game feel under‑polished rather than confidently optimized.

🌍 4. Incomplete Content and Shallow Early Game

Because the game is still in Early Access, many players feel that Titan Quest 2 currently has limited content and shallow progression. Some community members describe the playable portion as a small fraction of a full title, with only a handful of viable builds and about six hours of meaningful gameplay before content dries up.

Most builds outside a tiny handful feel underpowered or “trash,” which makes experimenting with character builds — a staple of ARPG enjoyment — feel unrewarding right now.

🎵 5. Atmosphere and Presentation Issues

Some players also feel that the visual and audio presentation doesn’t match the vibrant mythological world they were expecting. Reports mention forgettable music and character models that don’t fit well with the ancient Greek theme, breaking immersion.

Enemy death animations and effects are also pointed out as lacking impact or detail, making combat feel less satisfying than in the original Titan Quest.

🏁 Final Verdict

While Titan Quest 2 has potential and a solid foundation, its current state is weighed down by significant issues that many players find hard to overlook:

✔ Promising mythological setting and core concept
✘ Loot system feels bland and uninspired
✘ Combat lacks impact and fluidity
✘ Performance and technical problems even on good hardware
✘ Content feels incomplete with limited viable builds
✘ Atmosphere and presentation don’t always land

Overall: ⭐ 5.5 / 10 — A sequel that struggles to justify itself in its current form. For many players, the early access version feels more like a work in progress than a satisfying ARPG experience, and it may be worth waiting for major updates before diving in.

GTA V Enhanced is supposed to be an upgrade, but the migration system is completely broken. I keep getting a migration error that prevents me from transferring my existing GTA Online progress. After spending years grinding, losing access to my character is unacceptable.

Rockstar offers no clear explanation, no proper error message, and no real solution. Support responses are slow and unhelpful, usually blaming the user instead of fixing the issue. An “Enhanced” version that can’t even migrate accounts properly is a joke.

Until this migration error is fixed, this version is not worth playing. Very frustrating and poorly handled.

⭐️ Age of Empires II: DE – The Three Kingdoms — A Thrilling Expansion That Enriches a Classic RTS

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition – The Three Kingdoms brings epic new strategies, historical depth, and rich narrative content to one of the most beloved real‑time strategy games ever made. This expansion is a celebration of Chinese history and strategic diversity that enhances both single‑player and multiplayer experiences.
Age of Empires / World's Edge Studio

🛡️ 1. Five Fresh and Distinct Civilizations

One of the expansion’s strongest features is its addition of five new civilizations — Shu, Wei, Wu, Jurchens, and Khitans — each with unique units, technologies, and playstyles that add meaningful variety to AoE II’s competitive landscape. These civs inject the game with fresh strategic opportunities and encourage players to experiment with new tactics on the battlefield.

📜 2. Three Epic Story‑Driven Campaigns

The Three Kingdoms delivers three compelling campaigns that bring the legendary era of Liu Bei, Cao Cao, and the Sun Clan to life. Each campaign blends historical events with dynamic objectives and heroic units, offering players an immersive narrative experience and memorable battles set across ancient China.

⚔️ 3. Increased Strategic Depth and Replayability

With additional civilizations and campaign choices, the expansion adds new layers of strategic depth. From commanding elite cavalry like Tiger Cavalry of Wei to using specialized infantry like Shu’s White Feather Guard, each civilization presents its own tactical flavor that keeps both campaign and multiplayer matches engaging and replayable.

🌏 4. A Beautiful and Thematic Setting

The expansion’s historical context — the legendary period following the fall of the Han dynasty — gives the game a rich cultural backdrop where players can experience pivotal moments like the Battle of Red Cliffs. The varied terrain, units inspired by historical lore, and lore‑driven missions help make The Three Kingdoms feel like a true journey through Chinese military history.

🤝 5. Enhances the Base Game and Community Engagement

While Age of Empires II: DE has already enjoyed enduring popularity, The Three Kingdoms DLC expands the scope of what players can explore and achieve, revitalizing the community with new multiplayer strategies and fresh single‑player content that both veterans and newcomers can enjoy.

🏁 Final Thoughts

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition – The Three Kingdoms blends strategic complexity, historical richness, and narrative ambition into a rewarding expansion that enhances what was already a standout RTS. Its five new civilizations, epic campaigns, and tactical variety make it a must‑play for fans of the genre.

Overall: ⭐ 8.5 / 10 — A vibrant and ambitious addition that celebrates legend and strategy in equal measure.

⚠️ The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered — A Remaster With Major Technical and Design Flaws

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered promised a chance to relive a classic RPG in modern graphics and with updated systems, but for many players the experience has been more frustrating than magical. Instead of a polished modernization, the remaster often feels like an imperfect port of an old game, burdened by bugs, performance issues, and dated mechanics that were never meaningfully improved.

🐛 1. Performance and Stability Problems

The most frequent complaint from players is that performance is inconsistent or outright poor on both PC and consoles. Many users report severe frame drops, stuttering, and even frequent crashes — especially in the open world or after long play sessions. Some players find the game “nearly unplayable” without aggressive graphics tweaks just to get stable frames.

On PC, owners with relatively modern hardware still encounter bugs like crashes during loading, severe stutters outdoors, and even overheating issues due to poor optimization.

⛔ 2. Bugs Old and New Still Interrupt Play

Despite its modern engine, Oblivion Remastered still suffers from numerous bugs — both inherited from the original and newly introduced. Some players report quests that won’t progress, enemies and NPCs behaving awkwardly, and even crashes tied to save files. In some cases long‑term play has become unstable, with some save files failing to load entirely after many hours.

One Reddit thread highlights thousands of hours played only to have frequent crashes later in a playthrough, a major frustration for players who invested serious time in the game.

🧠 3. Dated Mechanics With Minimal Modernization

Even beyond technical woes, many players feel the remaster fails to meaningfully modernize gameplay mechanics that felt outdated in 2006. Combat can still feel floaty and unresponsive by modern RPG standards, level scaling remains clumsy, and core issues such as the relic level‑scaling system were not improved.

A lack of substantial quality‑of‑life upgrades — such as inventory management, UI revamps, or built‑in mod support — makes it feel closer to a “pretty HD remake” than a fully modern remaster.

🗺️ 4. Clunky UI and Interaction Design

Another common criticism concerns the user interface and menus, which many players find awkward and outdated. The remastered UI is described as cluttered and less intuitive than modern RPG standards. Some fans even prefer the original’s simpler design, finding the remaster’s changes unnecessary or poorly executed.

📉 5. Mixed Reception and Falling Player Satisfaction

Although the game launched with mostly positive reviews, player sentiment has shifted over time, especially on platforms like Steam where the rating slipped to “Mixed” months after release due to ongoing performance complaints and slow patches. Many feel the remaster hasn’t been updated quickly or thoroughly enough to address major issues.

🏁 Final Verdict

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered retains the classic story and world that many fans love, but its execution leaves much to be desired:

✔ Preserves the original’s immersive RPG world and quest design
✘ Performance problems and stuttering even on modern hardware
✘ Frequent crashes and unstable save progression
✘ Dated mechanics with little meaningful modernization
✘ UI design that still feels clumsy by modern standards
✘ Slow patch support and “Mixed” player sentiment months after launch

Overall: ⭐ 5.5 / 10 — A remaster that looks better on the surface but feels unfinished and frustrating underneath. If you’re drawn in by nostalgia, there’s still enjoyment here, but be prepared for technical rough edges that hamper what should have been a modern RPG experience.
