One of the most fun multiplayer FPS games that I've ever played. The basic premise is that you see a split screen with all the fighters' point of view, but you don't actually see them on yours. That means you have to "screencheat" and look at their screens to tell where they are and blow them to pieces.
Amazing fun for local sessions too, like the games it's based on. Plus, the dev is an amazing person and always listens to the community (and even plays with them)

If I was a scoring kind of person I'd definitely award it a 10 out of 10, it's got heart and it's great fun.

DOOM (2016) is an id Software game.
The above statement may seem strange, but it reflects what I thought while I was playing the game. id Software is a company known for kickstarting the FPS genre, and making gorgeous game engines. Sadly, their latest efforts haven't been as successful as the original Doom and its sequel, or the Quake series. Rage, their first new IP in years, had pacing issues, and idTech 5, id's shiny new engine, wasn't as good as one would expect from id. One could argue that the last id Software game that felt right at home with their legacy is either Doom 3 or Quake 3 Arena (Doom 3 lacks the relentless action that made id famous but it delivered in spades if you consider the tech department)
Well, I have good news for you, fans of the FPS genre! id Software is back, and better than ever. DOOM's singleplayer campaign is both modern and old school. It's incredibly good looking, runs amazingly well, and has a beautiful soundtrack.
Gone is the oppressive darkness and slow action that characterized Doom 3. Rage's poor pacing and graphics issues? Gone too. In their place, we can find fast paced action, a well thought upgrade system, intricate maps that remind us of a bygone era, and a tongue in cheek attitude that permeates the whole story mode. Doom Guy is here to kill demons and he won't let silly things like cutscenes get in his way.
Prepare yourself for a journey that will take you to Mars and (spoiler alert, duh!) Hell itself in a quest to blow apart thousands of demons and use their entrails as health or ammo boosts.
DOOM adds a new feature called Glory Kills, which lets the player execute wounded demons in exchange for a quick health top up, and believe me, you will learn to love it!
So yeah, id Software is back, baby!
Now that I've relayed the good news, it's time for the bad stuff:
The multiplayer component isn't as good as the campaign, and it wasn't even made by the same team (it was outsourced to the same guys that helped build the latest Halo's online component) Movement is pretty fast, but not as fast as Quake 3. Weapons aren't pickups anymore (with some exceptions) and you build a loadout, similar to Call of Duty or Battlefield, to name a few modern shooters that use the same system.
The SnapMap system is interesting, but a fully featured mod suite would certainly be a better thing for PC owners.

All in all, I think that DOOM is one of the best shooters in decades, and any FPS fan should consider getting it. A botched multiplayer offering can't overshadow the fact that the campaign is a work of art and it can rightfully claim a place in history alongside Doom 1 and 2.

A strange mix of space shooter with light strategy and elements of bullet hell. The player commands a spaceship that is actually the center of a small flotilla (you build specific drones in order to support your main ship) and must use those drones to get through the levels unscathed.
Be warned though, it gets pretty tough quickly (and without warning)
The devs listen to the community so that's a big plus in my book (the game used to have some really annoying difficulty spikes, but that's gone as of patch 1.1, for instance)
I'd recommend checking it out on a sale.

The last few years have seen a resurgence of adventure games. A genre once thought dead, or at least dormant got an injection of adrenaline from two sources: Double Fine (helmed by veteran adventure game designer Tim Schafer) and relatively newcomers Telltale. But giving those two fine companies ALL the credit for the resurgence of adventure games wouldn't be fair. Others have also done an amazing job keeping people interested in the genre. People such as the fine guys over at Cardboard Computer or Unbound Creations. Today we'll be talking about a game released by the latter (who also released the most excellent Postmortem: One must die)

Karaski: What Goes Up... is that game. The interesting thing about Unbound Creations is that their games don't focus all that much on puzzles, QTEs or life altering decisions. They instead chose to focus on people and small, personal stories. Karaski is a game about a magnificent airship which has experienced a catastrophic accident. But that's not really it... It's a game about the people in that airship, their motivations, their small quirks and what they did before they got onboard.
As an agent for an unknown organization you must discover what happened to the airship and who's the saboteur (or is it you?!) In order to accomplish your objective you can sneak, talk, intimidate or steal stuff. But there's nobody there to tell you exactly what happened, and nothing is set in stone. Your actions will dictate the ending, and you will decide what happened by yourself, after hearing what the characters have to say, or obtaining the information by other means. It's a game designed to be replayed, and in many ways it works similarly to a choose your own adventure book (or a Way of the Samurai game)

Will you discover what happened to the magnificent airship Karaski? Will you save the ship from certain doom? Or maybe you were the saboteur all along?

I got it for free, so this review may not reflect what I'd have thought if I'd paid for the game.

It's a surprisingly playable tactical shooter (borrowing a lot of stuff from the upcoming Rainbow Six: Siege) I didn't get any weird problems, but friends told me that performance was iffy on their machines, so take that into account.
Netcode seems pretty good, the game uses a matchmaking system and lets you build up your own squad with friends (you get a squad code, share that with your friends and they join with that)
Graphics are not "wow" but they do the job.
If the community holds up I'd say that the devs have a potential hit in their hands. Time will tell, because indie multiplayer games usually die pretty quick.

The port is barebones (30fps lock, game wasn't designed to run at more than 30 fps, so unlocking fps makes the game run really fast) but serviceable. I didn't get any crashes or weird stuff so far.
It's a ps4 port, not a Vita one (some people were saying that this is a Vita port, that's why I'm clarifying that)

VERY IMPORTANT: If you don't want to use a gamepad, forget about this game. There is no mouse support, and keyboard only controls can be really frustrating.

The voices are in Japanese, story is as one would expect from a monster hunting game. The gameplay is faster and easier than Monster Hunter, but can get interesting. There's online coop, and you can play solo if you want (the AI companions are pretty good)

All in all, I'd say that if you see a copy of this game going for 30-40 bucks and you like the Monster Hunter games, get it. For 60 dollars it's a tougher sell, but Tecmo Koei never knows how to price their games on PC, so that's what we got.

Probably the best space combat and trading game available right now. It manages to capture almost everything that made the original Elite an instant classic (and the missing stuff will come in the future) and at the same time updates the graphics and the gameplay, bringing online multiplayer to the table.

Definitely recommended if you are a fan of the genre.

The beginning seems to be interesting, but the mechanics end up being infuriating because tutorial prompts are ill timed or even non existant.
