Do You Think the Game's Finally Over?

Now we know when Daima Part 2 is coming out, do you think they're going to retire this game now? If not, what do you think will be next? IMO, the second set of season Pass DLC was the best, since it didn't just focus on one arc for all 3 parts. They also took place in different eras of DB. If we get another SP, I'd want more Dragon Ball content like Red Ribbon Army arc. They could also do Broly and Super Hero DLC (preferably in one part each)....

💾Graphics

The visuals are spectacular! Character models are amazing and the world around makes you feel so immersed into the story. The cutscenes look incredible as well. Many moments look faithful to the anime and is arguably one of the best looking games in the franchise. The world's environments have a lot to be desired sadly. It’s basic and has very little detail. Besides that flaw, being able to travel around the world of Dragon Ball and explore is something I always wanted to do. The particle effects from charging up and shooting Ki blast all look superb. The game visually is an art, and the cutscenes make me feel like I’m rewatching the anime again.

🎮Gameplay

The combat is pretty easy to get into. Simple controls to attack, block, use ki blast & special moves. It may seem simple, but the opponents will make a simple combat system feel really intense. The game can offer a decent challenge at times. The enemies can be aggressive and give you little to no time to breathe. Tactics is key to winning here, and maximize each of your allies and their abilities to help you. Once you do get used to the mechanics, the combat can get pretty stale and repetitive at times. DBZ Kakarot also offers great world exploration and fun activities to improve your character in between events of the story. The game also offers a standalone DBZ card game with great mechanics and the ability to collects cards and customize your own deck. I was not expecting such a cool unique game mode, and it was actually pretty fun. Another amazing feature is called the Z encyclopedia. This allows you to learn all the characters and there backstory, along with many events that happened in Dragon Ball. A great way to educate new comers to the franchise!

📜Story

This is Dragon Ball Z! DBZ: Kakarot has an amazing implementation of the story I’d even say it’s easily the best out of any game! Despite the praise, there are some glaring issues, like half of the android plot before Cell being replaced by about two lines of text. Regardless of some issues, it’s still the best way to experience the game’s story. All from the cutscenes and the acting is all extremely well done too! You also get many fun filler moments in between arcs to chill out and improve your characters. If you love the anime, then playing through the story will be an absolute treat for you.

🕛Playtime

This game may take you around 40+ hours to beat. You have plenty of side activities and exploration you can do. Plus with the many expansions like DB Super and DB Diama as DLC, you can add many more hours into this game if you are willing to put in some extra cash.

🎧Sound

Sound design is incredible. The combat sounds amazing and the Ki blast sounds so powerful and fun to use. The voice acting can be rough at times, especially with the lip syncing issues. If this bothers you, then switch to the Japanese voice since that matches up perfectly. The music in this game is incredible! The intro is straight from the anime and many other background sound tracks will sound very familiar to you if you watched the anime.

❗Bugs❗

I haven’t really encountered any serious bugs in the game. The game was smooth sailing for me and have nothing bad to report here.

🔅Performance

The game runs really well! I had no stutters or crashes. Sadly the game only runs on 1080p or lower. For someone that has a 1600p monitor, it kinda sucks I can’t fully utilize it in this game. You do have a resolution scaling option so I guess that’s an alternative for better sharpness if you want it.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is an amazing experience for fans of Dragon Ball. It follows the stories really well (with some minor gripes). The combat is simple but effective, and the visuals are stunning, especially the cutscenes. This is a great game to play if you are new to Dragon Ball Z. It’s an absolute must play for new comers to the anime, and fans as well.
