Lizard Smoothie, lovers of lizards and sweet drinks.

It’s been about three months since the launch of Shape of Dreams—a short time, but it feels like a lifetime to us. Shape of Dreams has received far more love than we ever expected, even achieving an incredible milestone of 500,000 copies sold within just a month of release. Over this time, you have given us tremendous support, encouragement, and also plenty of honest criticism and feedback. We’ve fixed a lot, but we believe there is still much we can do better.

Our game started as a simple “portfolio” project by two naive university students. The reason it has come this far is entirely thanks to your support and love. To repay this, we’ve revealed a roadmap for a year of free updates, and we’ll do our best to ensure Shape of Dreams has a bright future. Tomorrow, we are honored to present the first step of this journey: our first major update, the Winter Update.

Even before launch, Shape of Dreams had an active modding community. These players modified many aspects of the game, created new and exciting game modes, and built unique dream worlds.

To show our appreciation for these efforts, we are adding official mod and Steam Workshop support so that more travelers can create their own dream worlds.

Many travelers have told us that even the highest difficulty, Nightmare, felt too easy. For these veteran players, we are introducing an even harder challenge mode: Limbo.

Limbo consists of six difficulty tiers, each with its own special penalties and a requirement to enable an equal number of Evil Lucid Dreams to the selected tier.

If you reach higher Limbo levels with a traveler, you’ll earn a sparkling nameplate. If you conquer the greatest difficulty with any traveler, you’ll unlock a limited-edition emblem.

Beyond what was outlined in our roadmap, this update brings new memories, essences, hidden quests, souvenirs, and emotes. We’ve also made balance changes and adjustments to underused items to allow for even more diverse builds and playstyles.

Since the very beginning, we’ve worked on Shape of Dreams almost every single day. We’ve drunk a lot of coffee, given up weekends and sleep, but our hearts are warmer and lighter than ever. We have many exciting plans ahead, and this roadmap represents our latest vision for the future of Shape of Dreams.

This winter marks a new era for creativity — official mods support is on the way!

Steam Workshop integration, an in-game mod manager, and modded co-op experiences are all on the way. You’ll soon be able to reshape the world of dreams in your own way. We’re also adding new features to empower creators and make the modding process smoother and more rewarding.

We’ve seen how deeply many of our core players enjoy exploring every layer of the game — in fact, more than 50% of players choose to continue looping instead of reaching the ending. To make each run more unique and engaging, we’re introducing new elite monsters, Lucid Dreams variations, and enhanced item balance to create richer, more dynamic late-game experiences.

For travelers who think even Nightmare Mode isn’t enough, we’re preparing a brand-new challenge mode.
Climb through escalating levels of difficulty, conquer every trial, and earn exclusive limited rewards reserved for only the most skilled adventurers.

Many of you have shown incredible love and support for Shape of Dreams, far exceeding what we imagined. To honor that passion, we’re fully committed to continuing the game’s growth — and much of this roadmap was built upon your feedback from Discord, Steam discussions, and beyond.
