I've always wanted to play this game, but which version should I buy?

When I googled custom quests / sagas the only ones available are from this Russian websites. Not sure if they're legit or not. :/ Also, does this game not have a built in random map generator like HOMM?

It's impossible to sack a Capital with the Mountain Clans. With the Empire and the Elven Alliance, you can apply max armor and Heal in battle to take out the Guardian and sack as many Capitals as you'd want. With the Legions of the Damned and the Undead Hordes, You can Petrify and Paralyze, respectively, with Incubus and Banshees to keep the guardian out of combat till his demise.
