In person

When you process a payment in person, Square charges a fee of 1.75% + VAT per chip and PIN or contactless payment.

Online

For Free and Plus plans, the fee for a purchase through Square Online, Square Online Checkout, Terminal API or in-app payments is 1.4% + 25 cents + VAT for EU & EEA cards and 2.9% + 25 cents + VAT for UK/non-EEA cards.

For Square Online Premium, the fee is 1.4% + 15 cents + VAT for EU & EEA cards and 2.9% + 15 cents + VAT for UK/non-EEA cards with a monthly fee (billed annually) of €69 + VAT.

Remote

When you manually key in your customer’s card details on the Point of Sale app, the fee is 2% + VAT.

If you use a card on file or take payments via Virtual Terminal or Invoices, the fee is 2.5% + VAT.

If you’re processing more than €200,000 every year, we may be able to offer customised pricing packages like Interchange Plus (IC+) pricing or lower blended rates for businesses like yours. Customised pricing will vary depending on your processing volume, average ticket size, your history as a Square seller, and many other factors.
