On Windows, I cannot replicate your issue. Test Method: Click Create Volume button. Create File Container with size set to greater> 4 GB. Large Files : No > Results in FAT being the default filesystem. Large Files : Yes > Results in exFAT being the default filesystem. . Any volume > 2 TB will not get the Large Files screen due to FAT filesystem has a maximum filesystem size of 2 TB.

But I miss in VeraCrypt a function/menu "format/encrypt free space only". Where is it? There is no VeraCrypt option after you have formatted the volume to wipe the free space. @ra0 Using exFAT avoids the issue of NTFS file permissions and security permissions. Please post the exact version of Linux version and the VeraCrypt versions you are using on both OS platforms so hopefully someone using Linux in the VeraCrypt community can provide insight to your issue. The only idea I have is either a Windows and/or Linux update changed the exFAT compatibility which is controlled by the OS and not VeraCrypt.

Could you help the developer by testing disabling each security setting one-at-a-time to see if one or more of the MS security settings are causing the issue? The developer may or may not be able to "fix" VeraCrypt to override certain MS security settings that cause the issue.

I am on macOS, using Parsec for remote access - and a new installation does not seem to offer anything to disable this stupid"protection". Correct. The protection against screenshots and screen recording option is only for the Windows OS platform. Hence, the feature does not apply to MacOS nor Linux OSes. there is big data dispersion in Windows whichever Fat/exFat or NTFS is used though FAT should do a better job in the initial filling. If using FAT vs exFAT instead of NTFS on Windows OS. I would choose exFAT since it can handle large file sizes in addition to other features compared to FAT filesystem. Be sure to install the 1.25.9 version using the Windows account that has Administrator privileges and select in the install screen the option for All Users. Are you getting the error attempting to open the GUI or when attempting to mount a volume?

@mrtonyg @adriankit That could be a factor since I'm remoted in to the computers in question via our RMM, but I tried 1.26.24 on two different computers, no dice. Then I installed 1.26.20 and that worked. Don't get me wrong - has to be something system-related as a local install of 1.26.24 worked just fine. . I looked at the image and see that the drive is missing all the partitions and has a file system NTFS. What is "Go NTFS"? Is this some special format for Seagate external or portable drives? My system shows Formatted Size followed by "GB NTFS" for non-VeraCrypt partitions. For VeraCrypt encrypted partitions, you will see Formatted Size followed by "GB RAW".
