Security decisions made by Mounir are made in the best interests of the users of VeraCrypt while avoiding options to allow users to override the necessary changes for security. The decisions made are not always going to be popular. For example, Microsoft's Win 11 hardware requirements that are causing people to purchase new PC's due to older hardware's security vulnerabilities. This is impacts me and I am not happy about Microsoft's decision. However, I understand why Microsoft had to make that decision...

Please post the exact version of Linux version and the VeraCrypt versions you are using on both OS platforms so hopefully someone using Linux in the VeraCrypt community can provide insight to your issue. I am on macOS, using Parsec for remote access - and a new installation does not seem to offer anything to disable this stupid"protection". Correct. The protection against screenshots and screen recording option is only for the Windows OS platform. Hence, the feature does not apply to MacOS nor Linux OSes. I misunderstood your problem as MacOS remoting to the Windows OS that is using 1.26.24 VeraCrypt version. Have you opened a ticket with Parsec?

there is big data dispersion in Windows whichever Fat/exFat or NTFS is used though FAT should do a better job in the initial filling. If using FAT vs exFAT instead of NTFS on Windows OS. I would choose exFAT since it can handle large file sizes in addition to other features compared to FAT filesystem. NOTE: I updated my previous post due to I had a missing word "not" in my sentence and I added emphasize meanings. I stated that on Windows OS file dispersion may exist for FAT and exFAT filesystems....

The FAT/exFAT filesystems remaining unused outer volume will allow for defining a larger size for the hidden volume. The NTFS filesystem will require half the size of the outer volume's remaining unused space for the hidden volume size to store internal data. When initially populating the outer volume on Windows OS using NTFS can result in files being dispersed throughout the total outer volume's space which will result in very small remaining size available for defining the size for the hidden volume....

Be sure to install the 1.25.9 version using the Windows account that has Administrator privileges and select in the install screen the option for All Users. Are you getting the error attempting to open the GUI or when attempting to mount a volume?

  • Enigma2Illusion Enigma2Illusion posted a comment on discussion Technical Topics

@mrtonyg @adriankit That could be a factor since I'm remoted in to the computers in question via our RMM, but I tried 1.26.24 on two different computers, no dice. Then I installed 1.26.20 and that worked. Don't get me wrong - has to be something system-related as a local install of 1.26.24 worked just fine. . If disabling the VeraCrypt screenshots and screen recording option prevents the black screen on the remote computers when you are using RMM (Remote Monitoring and Management software), then...

@idrassi Does the automatic detection changes also improve the favorites mount duration speed of multiple volumes at the same time? Currently on older versions of VeraCrypt, the favorites mount of multiple volumes at the same time has slower mount times after the first favorite volume mounts. EDIT: I am unable to test the VeraCrypt beta software at this time due to I waiting on a software patch from third party vendor. I do not like to make other software changes at the same time so I know if their...

Do you use system encryption? This allows hibernate and swap files, etc. If not using system encryption, have you read the following? https://veracrypt.jp/en/Data%20Leaks.html https://veracrypt.jp/en/Wear-Leveling.html https://veracrypt.jp/en/Reallocated%20Sectors.html

When you enable VeraCrypt RAM Encryption, VeraCrypt will disable hibernate, Windows Fast Start and require rebooting the PC to have the changes take effect. Hence, without VeraCrypt RAM Encryption enabled, someone with physical access to your PC with system encryption and/or other non-system VeraCrypt volumes mounted on the PC can extract the encryption keys from the active memory to create their own memory dump from the active memory. I don't know why it shows NTFS since it's encrypted veracrypt volume? Somehow the disk got initialized, all existing partitions removed and the disk with all the partitions removed/deleted got formatted to NTFS. My system shows Formatted Size followed by "GB NTFS" for non-VeraCrypt partitions. For VeraCrypt encrypted partitions, you will see Formatted Size followed by "GB RAW". Another line item below the size should be: Healthy (Basic Data Partition) Sorry, I do not have a solution to your issue. Regarding you being...

On your external drive, did you encrypt a disk partition (ex: \Device\Harddisk1\Partition1) or are you using a VeraCrypt File Container? If you encrypted a disk partition, then using a Windows 11 or 10 PC, do you see in Windows Control Panel -> "Create and format hard disk partition" the VeraCrypt partition File System type should be shown as RAW. Correct?
