Now using Saga 9.9.1 and the new Display > Overlay Mode > Hachure feature. Hachure appears to produce a visual display of grids equivalent to the old 'shade', meaning that I cannot tell the difference. A splendid result - thank you. Plus, as Olaf mentioned, hachure can now use all of the available colour ramps and, if very brave, you can even apply some classical shading to the hachured display. Essentially the move to 'hachure' is a functional improvement over the old 'shade' (and will save me an...
Dear Olaf, You could be right, maybe only I regularly use this method (the old 'shade'). If so, then this demonstrates that you have been very kind in replacing it with 'hachure'. Thank you. 'Shade' had become my default method for examining large quantities of LiDAR data for archaeological purposes. Combining multiple, 'shaded' filters in an overlay fashion makes it relatively easy to scan large areas for interesting features. I find the method is quite efficient but then I have been using it for...
Hello Volker, Yes, I saw Olaf's commit and I'm looking forward to seeing how 'hachure' differs from 'shade'. Thanks to Olaf for the quick response - much appreciated. Regards, Tanimbar
Hello, Saga 9.9.0 no longer has Properties > Settings > Options > Colors > the type 'Shade'. Tiffs that in previous Saga versions could use 'shade' now default to 'Graduated Colors'. Shade was very powerful in displaying different wavelength/frequency features of multiple computations of the same data set, e.g. 1) Lidar slope, overlain by 2) Simple local Relief, overlain by 3) Openness. It is/was my default method for examining Lidar data and used in many projects. Has 'shade' gone? Thank you.
Hello Volker, Thanks for trying to reproduce the hang. I have tried to find "a specific constellation or sequence of actions" that causes the hang but have failed so far. I was hoping that there might be something different in the code that suggested to you a possible cause. Saga can run for hours with occasional successful calls to the 3D View but then another call and it hangs. Sometimes - usually - a restart of Saga restores 3D View but quite often a restart with the same project will immediately...
Hello, Selecting (clicking on the glyph) '3d View' intermittently causes SAGA to hang, i.e. CPU runs single thread at 4-5%. Stuck activity requires Task Manager > End Task to terminate SAGA. It seems to hang as soon as you click on the 3D View glyph; the pop-up window for selecting the elev. grid etc. does not appear. This has been happening for over a year but it happens more frequently now (running Saga 9.7.2). It's odd because generally Saga is robust and rarely crashes/hangs. Anyone else experiencing...
Hello Volker, I've been testing using Saga 9.7.1 which has a fix for the original 'Add Base Map' and fixes for other KML export issues. The following scribble is a crude attempt to capture the solutions you put forward earlier in this string. However, as you know, from 9.7.1 onwards they are primarily for those who wish to use the latest Ordnance Survey UK Terrestrial Reference Frame (TRF) and/or have been given datasets using the latest TRF, e.g. GPS surveys etc. I'm not sure the following would...
Hello Volker, Thanks once again for the help and for writing out in more detail the corrections required; much appreciated because I've become thoroughly confused (not unusual!). I can confirm that your first - using the shiftgrid - solution works. This is using the OS .gsb files and then the Proj 'Set Coordinate Reference System' to +proj=tmerc +lat_0=49 +lon_0=-2 +k=0.9996012717 +x_0=400000 +y_0=-100000 +ellps=airy +nadgrids=OSTN15_NTv2_OSGBtoETRS.gsb +units=m +no_defs +type=crs It finally worked...
