  • This saves me so much time from having to do tweaks myself. It is criminal that Microsoft changes the privacy and data handling methods often. (probably to prevent users from protecting their privacy and dig in their teeth to our data a bit deeper). With Windows 10, Microsoft has given us free updates but the cost is greater than they are worth. It is too bad this script did not have enough support to keep it going.
  • Though scripts might be considered as "rude" solution, it works. I like tools that work.

  • Thanks for the scripts. Can you start it with pushd "%~dp0" please so it always starts with source folder as current directory. Also typo on line set /p ask=Do you want to delete OneDrive (y/N)? || set _yn=n should be set ask=n An XML file for Easy2Boot can be found at /rmprepusb.blogspot.co.uk/2017/05/xml-file-for-winlite10.html Is there a way to group the components so that we only need to answer say 6 questions?

  • With latest build ( Insider Preview 15025 ), the script doesn't work anymore. I think it's due to the new different setup installation mode of Win 10. Every step of the script, in the MS Dos windows, continues to say "access denied".
  • Downloaded WinLite10V7 and WinLite10V7-auto, Started windows 10 64-bit setup, Shift+F10 is working fine but the commands with sc and schtasks are not working as there are no such files present in either whole windows 10 64-bit setup or anywhere on X: and C: drives. However after the failure of these two commands all the other commands are successful. Doubtful! whether this lite version after the failure of sc and schtasks commands whether winlite10V7 will be able to remove required files and services or not.
  • UPDATE: When windows update installs version 1607 aka the "Anniversary Update", it brings back ALL THE GARBAGE including Cortana and Edge :( In the end, here's what I did to maintain a clean install (it involves preventing Windows Update from ever running). 1. Installed Windows 10 Pro/Enterprise, interrupting installation to use 'Windows 10 Lite' and not activating wifi or connecting to the internet. 2. Activated windows using Microsoft Toolkit EZ Activator 3. Disabled Windows Update: Run services.msc, find 'Windows Update' in the list, double-click it, set Start-up type to "Disabled", click OK. (btw, I don't believe this can be done in Windows Home) That's basically it, you can then turn on wifi and not worry about Windows Update screwing you. Of course I also turned off everything under privacy settings, and disabled automatic driver updates as well. Maybe one day I will run into problems without Windows Update, but for now it's smooth sailing. **** Original Review Below, which still applies as long as you don't run Windows Update **** This is SO GREAT (with minor confusion during installation, see below) I feel like a curse has been lifted. I was worried that this would create a buggy Windows experience, but the reality is that Windows 10 is a nightmare on its own, whereas this fix turns it into the slick, clean operating system that it should be. I'm a fairly mainstream Windows user (Word, Excel, Photoshop, Ableton live, etc). Everything runs flawlessly. Say goodbye to cortana, sports app, zune app, weather, all the extra garbage. ABOUT THE INSTALLATION: I put Windows 10 Lite on the bootable Windows 10 usb key I already had. CTRL + F10 as per instructions worked fine. Once I ran the command, I was presented with some unexpected options ("safe" vs "tweaked"). I chose safe, based on some quick research. Then I was presented with many choices of which Windows 10 programs/apps to remove. I removed almost everything. BUT I experienced the same problem as the 1-star reviewer reported: after applying the fix, Windows installation booted back into the same configuration screen I had originally pressed CTRL + F10 on. But this was not really a problem, I just clicked next etc WITHOUT applying the Lite fix a second time, and the installation completed successfully (the initial application of the fix got the job done). Once in windows, the only weird thing was not having the taskbar search working, but I followed the Windows Lite instructions (hide useless taskbar search, add new link to other Windows Search) and the alternative search works just fine (but you need to make your own new copy of the shortcut, otherwise Windows will remove your link from the taskbar at startup, lol).
  • Removes crapware from Windows 10
  • thanks for the work!!!
  • Really Great App! Simplifies the disabling and deleting of Apps and Services that are not needed and those with Privacy issues.
  • Worked perfectly on a low end APU laptop, just follow the instructions to the letter and you'll end up in the simple command line customization prompt.
  • As long as one has a clue on how the Windows 10 install works and is able to read the provided docs this is easy as cake to install. With a vanilla Win10 ISO my Intel Atom lappie ran dog slow and a stuttering from time to time. Win10 lite removed whatever unnecessary junk that caused my problems and now I'm using my Atom laptop as my day to day machine without any hiccups. Keep up the good work!
  • TOTAL WASTE OF TIME First of all both instructions (the autor and the other reviewer) are misleading, the only place where you can do SHIFT + F10 after windows get installed in the hard disk is when asks you to configure it, actually the first time you have to get involved (after windows install). and this is the command start x:\Win10Lite\rmApps.cmd (x: drive of the windows DVD) and (Win10Lite= folder where is rmApps.cmd) When you run the script it begins a loop: Windows restarts and ask again for the configuration, and again, and again, never ending. The thing its BROKEN. The author of this doesn't seems to realize that a windows instalation is not the same than a random software istallation, it can take a lot of time, not only the installation itself but the backing up of files and ending with the same windows like before but now having to put the files and software again. Its one star because 1. Is broken 2. The instructions are more than poor (0 consideration, especialy when is about installing a SO) and last the script just seems to be something that is doesn't even needs to be done in the installation, im not sure but this question has been asked in "Discussion" and nobody answer...
  • INCREDIBLE ! i have been trying to do this since Windows 10 was released. Tested, Verified, and Error free :) Thanks FYI: i also cleaned up further with win6x_registry_tweak. Although, i wish the instructions were a little better. 1. Put winlite10v4.5 folder in root of Windows 10 ISO 2. recompile ISO 3. burn to DVD 4. install Windows 10, when it gets to the page where it asks for serial, username, etc.. - press Shift + F10 5. a command prompt will open > enter: cd x:\winlite10v4.5. (replace x with your DVD drive) 6. enter: start rmApps.cmd 7. simply answer questions. (i don't recommend removing associations.. it disassociates important filetypes) 8. once finished.. close CMD window > continue with installation till complete.
