I've tried a lot of POS programs. I've stopped on this one. In most cases you needn't read docs. It's self-explaining.

I have used this programme for a few years now. It was very easy to set up. Any problems are resolved quickly by excellent support.

I just started a business and needed to use a POS to record my sales & manage stock. This program is intuitive. I learned so much from this free program. Thanks a lot to the dev.

I've been using ProffittCenter now for a number of years in a retail environment and can't believe how well this piece of software compares with the other EPOS systems I have used in previous jobs and other free and commercial systems we demoed when looking to install an EPOS system here. In fact I created a SourceForge account purely for the purpose of extolling the virtues of this great piece of software and perhaps repay the developer's work in some very small way. So enough fluff and to a few points that may actually help. After installation (which is a little pernickety but fairly straight forward), actually setting up the EPOS is made infinitely easier by allowing (if the option is checked) new lines to be added on the fly, saving days of work adding a shop's worth of products before even serving a customer. On the subject of installation, it's not a fussy piece of software, up to recently I had it running on a 15yo PC running XP, now it's on a server running 10, works with pretty much any barcode scanner, serial receipt printer (I haven't tried USB directly but have it plugged through a serial to USB convertor (with port retention - important I believe)) and till drawer. It backs up to your dropbox account daily. Reports are numerous (and customisable with JasperReports). It can generate purchase orders and booking in purchases is quick and painless, with previously booked in items just needing a barcode scan. Staff can be set up with predefined privileges, customer accounts are quick and flexible, other functions such as item tracking and shelf rent I don't use but I imagine are very useful in certain sectors. The help files are more than adequate, but developer and forum support exceptional. Finally a small (and very incomplete) list of functionality which I haven't yet mentioned: Networkable, stock valuation, multi-currency (not simultaneously), variety of automatic discount/offers/BOGOF options, customisable (JasperReport) invoices (with suitable printer), purchase history (v. useful). So if you haven't already gathered, I'm a big fan!
