Thanks for reviving this great DE. Found this when I installed SLIM on Arch Linux, and discovered it was actually SLIM-Fork!

I've been using SLiM for over six/seven years and an very happy with it. ----- It is truly an *excellent* example of Linux philosophy at work, I liked it much more than any of the other DMs I tried. ----- ie: lightweight, easy to configure, requires minimal dependencies and is independent of the DE. ----- It ticks *all* the boxes. 8^) ----- Unfortunately, in my opinion, the Linux ecosystem is slowly but steadily moving in the opposite direction. ----- On top of that, reading things like this was quite disheartening: ----- "... for SLiM the situation is even more extreme because maintenance stopped back in 2014 and as a result it doesn't support user login sessions correctly. The code will continue to rot over time. Anyway it runs X under the root user and so should be avoided ..." ----- So thank you *very* much for taking up the slack and getting things up to speed with SLiM. ----- Now, if there is *anything* more I could possibly ask of you it would be *this*: ----- please keep SLiM as simple and straightforward as possible, ignore the slew of requests for new "features" which you will receive from people who do not understand what "Simple Log in Manager" means. ----- If anyone wants a DM with more bling and bloat, true to the "Linux=choice", they have a lot to choose from already. ----- With respect to other distributions picking up SLiM, I am quite sure that Devuan Linux will happily host it in its repositories. ----- I for one am pushing for it to be Devuan's default display manager and if that comes to be, all Devuan derivatives will follow suit.
