If you are a Linux user and a gamer and you want to play the Firearms locally on your computer then you'll have to set your Half-Life to use Steam compatibility layer named Proton. Firearms is missing the "client.so" library so it won't run on Linux natively. The game may eventually start, but because of missing client part you won't be able to choose team and join it. All you will see is a black screen. The Proton allows using Windows .dll libraries on Linux. Once you set your Half-Life to use the Proton you'll have to download and use Marine Bot for Windows located inside "Marinebot" folder. Also you'll need to have "Wine" installed on your Linux OS in order to correctly install Marine Bot. See the "Install instructions" in the Support section of Marine Bot homepage for more info http://marinebot.xf.cz/support.html . And in the Links section on Marine Bot homepage you can find a simple guide that will show you how to setup your Half-Life to use the Proton. The "Marinebot Linux" tar.gz files are meant only for Linux OS Dedicated Server admins that are running Firearms. The Day of Defeat edition of Marine Bot is a universally working package. It has both Linux as well as Windows libraries. So no matter whether you are a gamer or a Dedicated Server admin, you can use the same package that is available in "Marinebot" folder.
