Growlight facilitates management of all storage devices known to the Linux kernel, from hardware RAIDs to hybrid media to ramdisks to ZFS (indeed, Growlight was initially written to simplify ZFS on Linux). It understands the majority of partition and filesystem types, as well as both software and hardware RAID, LVM, and encrypted disks.

Features

  • UEFI boot preparation (UEFI bootloader, ESP, /etc/fstab)
  • BIOS boot preparation (BIOS bootloader, /etc/fstab)
  • MD / zpool aggregate scan + import
  • Align partitions based off physical sector size
  • SMART status reporting and test scheduling
  • Temperature sensing
  • GPT, MSDOS, and APM partition types
  • Label- and UUID-based operation
  • Optimal MDRAID / ZoL (ZFS on Linux) setup
