Glados is a science project aiming to run a full Linux operating system in RAM able to save persistent datas to disk.
Glados provides latest LXDE desktop environment using Ubuntu LTS 64bits repositories.

Depending on user choice at boot sequence, the operating system can be set to full load in RAM, or not.
When running fully loaded in RAM, Glados expands to a genetic lifeform able to operate devices.

User can install any software package from Ubuntu LTS repositories using apt command or synaptic, and even build its own modules to load at will.

Project documentation is available inside the desktop. Glados project ships with xombrero minimalist browser for coders, BBS tools, and highly improved desktop apps.

Pre-compiled modules can be downloaded from Glados home project website to add or replace the previous ones.

Any support to our project (participating, donating, etc.) is welcome !

Enjoy science and have fun !
Laurent CAS, Research Director.

User Reviews

  • wow, when I first looked at this when I was 10, I was bummed that it didn't work. I now know how batch coding worked and got it to work using some hacky stuff. Great job, VirtualBox got it to work, and the Operating System boot menu looked great, but the actual operating system was just a black screen. Great job on this, I will send another review when/if you improve upon this.

Hi, VirtualBox is known to be very difficult to setup for a RAM persistent operating system and I strongly suggest to only run Glados just as explained in documentation, on a usb pendrive or a hard drive. Many thanks for your support, we appreciate. Laurent CAS
