                                Notes
                               -------

This version is a beta release 0.1. We are planning to make a stable release 
under the GPL v3 License.This sofware is an attempt to give flexibility to a
sysadmin to test their network for any existing vulnability. It meets the 
criteria of discovering the network,finding open ports,finding probable OS 
version and finally a list of available attacks in a complete package.

Right now this release is only restricted for Linux Platform. We do have
planning to support it accross multiplatform.

                      INSTRUCTION TO USE SNET
                      -----------------------

DEPENDENCIES
------------

SNET has two parts. One is CLI and other is GUI.
FOr CLI the following packages are required to compile the SNET source code.

 - scons (version 0.96) from http://www.scons.org/download.php
 - python 2.4 or higher from http://www.python.org/download/releases/2.4

For GUI all packages for CLI options and other packages as listed below 
are required.
 - The complete QT packages. (version 3.3 or higher)
   (libqt,liqt-mt etc)
 - libexpat1-dev (in Ubuntu)

COMPILE
--------

Download the source code i.e. snet_beta_version.tar.gz (Already done ... ;-))

Do gunzip snet_beta_version.tar.gz
Do tar -pxvf  snet_beta_version.tar

cd snet_beta_version

enter "scons"  to get cmd helps.

Try to build accordingly or simply copy and paste the example.
e.g.
scons target=all build=debug CCFLAGS=USE_POLL RN_COMPILE_TIME=True

INSTALLING
-----------
There is no special instruction. In this beta version there is two important 
binary.
One is snet_beta_version/bin/snet
Other one is snet_beta_version/ui/bin/rapttmaingui

  INSRUCTION TO RUN IN CLI MODE
  -----------------------------
  Simply run the commnd  snet_beta_version/bin/snet -i
  and follow the instruction.

  INSTRUCTION TO RUN IN GUI MODE
  ------------------------------
  start the snet module with snet_beta_version/bin/snet -d
  check if there any error in /tmp/sne_master_process.log.
  Then start the gui with snet_beta_version/ui/bin/rapttmaingui

  Right Click on PortScan module.
  Do AddConfiguration.
  Do the desired configuration and select the scantype as "Connect Scan"
  Press start.

  Hope everything works fine. ;-)

LIMITATIONS
------------
[]   As this is a beta version release, It is implicitly understood that
     all available options will not work.

[]   Only the portscan module with connect scan and a single port range 
     will work for now.
