Hello!, and thank for keep in touch.  I thought that I wrote you all =
about it.  I start all over again (Windows XP) but instead of install =
every component I decided to instal xamp for Windows (just trying to =
avoid my misconfiguration mistakes), and guess what?.  It Works!.  I =
just notice that the link to "listen" and "Download" are wrong.  I mean =
when you clic to "listen" it download and when you click on download you =
listen to the audio associated with the story.

I also sended an avi movie to show you how it all work and some jpgs.  =
Sorry that you didn=B4t receive it.

PS.  You must remove the "_rename" part on the file to watch the movie.

One more question, then I may need to look at some more files...

It looks like you may be doing some mapping, aliasing, redirecting or
something with Apache. You URL is http://localhost/pmm-cms/news.php, but
the file path is in C:\wamp\www\pmm-cms\NewsCMS\news.php. That may cause
a hiccup, as the install_directory value wants you to use the same path
from the root for both the URL and file path in pmm-cms.=20
=20
However, the quick fix may be to leave the $install_directory as it is,
but then set the INSTALL_DIR constant further down in the config file to
the absolute file path in which pmm-cms is installed
(C:\wamp\www\pmm-cms\NewsCMS, instead of
$_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].$install_directory).
=20
So, to summarize, try changing line 34 in the config.php file so it is:

define('INSTALL_DIR',   'C:\wamp\www\pmm-cms\NewsCMS\news.php');

Let me know if that helps, and if it generates another error, please
feel free to send me another JPG of the error message. Alternatively,
you can send the error message in text format.

This looks like it it probably something simple to me. The error
depicted in your JPG 1.3_1.JPG shows that the server is loading the
INSTALL_DIR constant incorrectly. It is displayed in the error as its
name, rather than as its value.

I haven't figured this out yet, but I will do so and get back to you
ASAP.

I would also highly recommend NOT turning on register_globals if you can
avoid it. Let's find a solution that doesn't require that move.

The current development team was not responsible for any release of =
NewsCMS
v1.x. Because of this we have little support for it. We have been =
working on
a v2.x for quite sometime that encompasses a number of new features,
complete code rewrites, and enhancements. What I can do for you, if you =
have
the time to let me take a crack at it, is install v1.x on my machine as =

have the same configuration as you do (WinXP, Apache 2.x, PHP 5.x, and =
MySQL
5.x). Would you be willing to give me a week or two?

luck with the never ending bandwidth constraint issues on campus. It is a 
challenging task to work with and it looks like OIT is making great

The VoIP was blocked after two discussions with students.  They were 
concerned that a number of students were "setting up camp" in the labs for 
the purpose of VoIP calling.  It was taking away from the academic 
purposes of these labs.  This discussion came out of broader conversations

Since this is not an issue in the ITL we will re-enable VoIP for them for 
the remainder of this semester.  We have let the campus know that the 
bandwidth constraints that we have may not support broad uses of VoIP over 
the longer term.  If/when we need to discuss VoIP limits in the future we 
will make sure to get ITL participation.

Myself and a few other students have been working on an open source 
project for over a year and since I have graduated and am living in 
Poughkeepsie, we have a need to meet at a regular time for status updates. 
To communicate during these meetings we have been using SkyPE as a VoIP 
software. Recently we found that the ITL is considered a public lab and 
because of that all VoIP activity is blocked. This prevents us from 
holding status meetings and limits our ability to speak with other 
professors and professionals in the Potsdam area during joint meetings 
should such a need arise. 
  
In the greater scope, such a block stifles Clarkson student collaboration 
with professionals and other students who reside off campus. Since all 
VoIP is blocked, that leaves virtually no method for students to 
communicate with off-site team members in a reasonable fashion. This could 
cause problems with Clarkson students working on course projects where a 
member is a commuter and where large teams wish to speak with off-campus 
groups in a classroom setting. 
  
All that said, it hinders Clarkson University students from "defying 
convention" and going above and beyond. There are a number of viable uses 
for VoIP in campus labs. 
  
Looking at the diagram found at 
http://www.clarkson.edu/oit/network/bandwidth/, it would appear there is 
the ability to control bandwidth usage not only by location but by time as 
well. Also, it does not appear that VoIP is blocked on the residential 
level. Certainly there are less people in the labs at any given time, 
where it would be most beneficial. 
  
Is there possibly a middle ground where VoIP could be permitted with a 
reasonable bandwidth limit set or time block, perhaps after business hours 
or 3PM - 8AM unrestricted and 8AM - 3PM restricted but not blocked?

I think basic search should be a lot simpler (covers all the simple cases).
For example: default search by title, have tabs for search for images/audio=
,
tab for search by reporter, etc.
(something more like the difference between google search and google image
search -- web vs. image tab, etc.)

Then, have the advanced search handle everything else that is more complex.
(i.e. combinations of things and date ranges)

This is more like it was originally in version 1, but with a new interface
and the
added advanced functionlity.
