At the moment ( r21890 ) Console ignores the parameter "&" at the end of the command line: this feature is blocked.
See Plugin Bug #3539123.

Is it the necessary feature for somebody?

It works still for me, and I do use it.
What seems to have changed with your recent commit is that if I run "xeyes
&", i see the "i'm working" spinner go, whereas before I did not. But if I
hit return, I get the prompt as I expect, and I can run other commands. So
the option is not disabled (yet).
