Initial Comment:
c. 1 of 3 loads fails and only deletion of file eliminates 
problem

files in perspective may be local, ftp, or mixed and there 
is no difference in failure rate

failure to connect for ftp does not appear to affect load 
failure

examination of the load log indicates no particular 
pattern to the failure -- some files are loaded before the 
failure

examination of the private bytes of java indicate that 
when jedit fails java loses track of its dll's and fails as 
well

local sys: win2k adv srvr sp4, amd xp 2400 (amd athlon 
video corruption reg fix for large file limit of 128mb 
applied), 512mb ddr (availability at failure: 200-320mb) , 
swap files 1.2gb (usually 1/3 used), nvidia gforce4 mx 
440 128mb

Instead of telling us how much RAM you have and what patch
level of your OS you're running, how about some relevant
information, like a corrupt perspective.xml file?
