Major Project Changes (final)

After testing several different languages with which to develop Code Connector, I have decided to use C# under Mono using GTK#. Mono and GTK# have rcently become a viable solution offering a powerful, flexible, and cross-platform environment.

This was no easy decision. But after much testing and thought I have made this decision final.

I am in the process of building a development crew and have begun designing the base code. If you are intesrested in joining let me know.

Major Project Changes

I would like to announce that the project is no longer going to be written in Java. Code Connector is now going to be written in C++ under Linux and use Gnome for the interface.

The reasons are numerous, and this was not an easy decision, but the primary concern is speed; and if you know Java I'm sure you know why.

The project is also going to be kicked into high gear to get a release out asap. More on this to come.

CVS now has work-in-progress

Good news:

Our CVS is up and running ... and its actually got code :) Nothings running yet, but a great deal of server code has been written. I would expcet the v0.1 server code to be ready in the coming weeks.

Go there to get to the CVS

We're not dead

After flatlining for a bit too long the project has gone on life support and is in improving condition. I had to clean house and trim the development team to its basic needs: me and a hell of a lot of caffine. Look for the next post to be in anticipation of a young release canidate.

Slight change/addition

This weekend I had a brain storm, and decided that there was room for improvment in the project idea. Basically I moved to a client-server model and added file management capabilities. This solves the problem of the question "Who has the most recent version of this file?," which also provides another innovative collaboration tool. Oh, and I know what you are thinking, and this is not going to be another CVS, and is not meant to replace a CVS :) However, a possible plugin could be to provide an automated means of connecting Code Connector to a CVS for versioning.

Project Opened

After keeping this project in the back of my head for a while I decided to bring it to life.
