[cacti-user] cacti install problems

hey,

I am having problems with getting cacti running on my suse 9.3 box running
php4 and apache2.

I installed one version via yast today and came across this error
*Fatal error*: Call to undefined function: session_start() in *
/usr/share/cacti/include/config.php* on line *74

*I also tried to install via tar ball and ran into the following problem

checking for gettimeofday... yes
checking for strerror... yes
checking for strtoll... yes
configure: error: Cannot find MySQL header files under /usr
achilles:~/cacti-cactid-0.8.6g # ls /usr/
.  ..  X11  X11R6  bin  games  i586-suse-linux  include  lib  local  sbin
share  src  tmp

Strange where suse puts stuff, but i would rather my package manager took
care of it any way.

As I have done nothing to the yast version i though you chaps may like to
know about the missing function.
