This is excellent information Gandalf. I'll poke around 0.8.8/9 and see if that gives me some of the features I'm looking for.

Release plans have changed a bit, unfortunately without updating the web page.
Current stable release is 0.8.8a.
Planned next release will be 0.8.9 which you can find in it's current shape on
the SVN server under branches/0.8.9. Personally, I'd call that current code
"feature complete" but not tested. And still you'll find test code in it.

SVN/main is a step beyond 0.8.9. In fact, 0.8.9 has been a downgrade of main
plus some smaller features plus a huge deal of bug fixes; see Changelog.
Playing with 0.8.9 is ok. Please report findings either to the "unstable" forum
branch of to mantis.

Playing with main might not be a good idea, even if you like the hard way.
