I will try to post few screen shots this weekend pointing to how to use the extension, what is functional, etc.
Code is committed. It is slightly different from the XPI (minor bug fixes).
SVN code should become available this weekend, even though you can also get it from the xpi.
The VirtualBox image is Ubuntu 9. You will have to have VirtualBox installed. Download the vmdk and ovf file and rename the vmdk file to
{3a230c7c-b25f-4507-9b47-a1ec8d0f83a3}.vmdk
Then you should be able to import the image. The password is biobrowser.
For testing purposes, a virtual box image with the current release will be available either later today (June 17 2010) or tomorrow.
Emboss would not run if EMBOSS_ACDROOT is not set. Since installation just compiles the source, EMBOSS_ACDROOT is not set initially. Now the extension calculates where the acd files are based on the bin location and sets the environment before emboss commands are run. XPI file is updated.
An installation bug was fixed. It had to do with setting the correct file permissions after the install.
The uploaded file now would be functional.
Please, set in about:config biobrowser.firstrun to true after reinstalling the extension and restart firefox. This should take care of the problem.
