New Project Admin

Unfortunately, I don't have enough time and required resources to maintain the project currently and at least for near future. Stephen Smith (http://sourceforge.net/users/sasmith/) volunteered to join in and take over the maintenance. Thanks, Stephen!

Amanda Tape Backup Win32 Clients: Second Beta

Amanda Tape Backup is a distributed heterogenous backup system, http://www.amanda.org . Amanda-Win32 is an effort to create native clients for Windows32 OSes which allow to backup native metainformation, like NTFS extended attributes and security information. Also, GUI restore frontend is provided.

Amanda-Win32 development was sponsored via Cosource (http://www.cosource.com). Few days ago, project was officially marked as completed (http://www.cosource.com/cgi-bin/cos.pl/wish/info/336). Coinciding with this, I release second beta of 'amanda-clients' package which contains minor fixes for path handling. Note that product runs fine for me and for authority who oversaw project, there's just too little feedback to dub it "stable".... read more

Amanda-win32 clients CVS import

Today, I was able to produce first dump of NT box with ported amandad. Currently, I'm importing its sources into CVS. It's based on Amanda CVS of 2001-01-18 (pre-2.5.0). It was ported with CVS version of PW32 (http://sourceforge.net/projects/pw32/), plus some hacks for better win32 robustness.

First release of NTTAR

"Backend" of Amanda-win32, nttar, utility to archive and restore files on win32 systems with the native properties (such as security data) is ready for the initial release. Currently, it's working only on NT systems, but there it does (re)store all the necessary information.

This release is binary, source is available from the CVS.
