Windows 7 32bit - vistamce.dll won't initialize

Tried everything with this but it just will not initialize even though windows 7 automatically installed the transceiver driver and the remote works else wise. I have tried it on 2 windows 7 32bit systems now.
The transceiver model number is IR606/Q which apparently is made by MATA? Anyways it installs with the normal driver from what I can tell which is eHome Infrared Receiver (USBCIR).
I added this... forgot to login first.
Can you show me what it installs itself as in device manager ? The plugin, I've only tested on real Microsoft MCE receivers.
Oh, 1 more thing to add. It won't work on a guest account, you need to be admin, or run it as admin to work. Just how microsoft designed it .. sadly.
I have been running it as administrator.
Device Info as follows.
-Display Name-
eHome Infrared Receiver (USBCIR)
-Hardware Ids-
USB\VID_147A&PID_E042&REV_1101&MI_00
USB\VID_147A&PID_E042&MI_00
-Manufacturer-
Microsoft
Can you try it in eventghost and see what plugin it works with ?
I was able to manually install the (Microsoft MCE Remote - Vista/Win7) and start the service, logs any buttons I hit on the remote properly.
k, it seems very much like it should work. I had a quick google of the hardware online, looks like a pretty neat MCE clone. If i send you a debug build, can u test it ?
Yeah I would be happy to do that.
try this version

Just overwrite the files from the normal version. It'll give you a debug console, you should be able to see what stage its failure to initialise.
DeviceIo getCapabilities failed
getCapabilities fail
The getCapabilities function gets the receive port. The receiver *should* support that. However if it doesn't we might be able to guess the port :p We can give that a spin.
Sounds like fun ;p
Love to have it working with it.
This receiver came as a part of Rosewill RHRC-11001 Remote.
Supposedly certified.
Not sure if the newest version is suppose to fix the problem, but it does not appear to work in it 0.9.0b.
Hi, sorry I have just not had time to look into this properly yet. But rest assured it is on my to do list :) Unfortunately winlirc only has 1 coder, me :p
I understand fully.
I just seen there was a new version out and didn't know if that contained a fix or not, so I tried it and wanted to report that if it was suppose to it did not fix it.
From decompiling the source of windows media centre.. I can see there is
IR_DEV_CAPS
and
IR_DEV_CAPS_V2
On your hardware asking for the first one, seems to fail. Perhaps the second will work. Code for the new media centre only uses the second call, so perhaps the remote is only certified for vista/7, and wont work on XP. Can give that a try. Or failing that, we can try guessing the port. I'll try to put together a build when I got a few mins.
Hmm indeed this is true it is only certified for Vista/7.

It should report what hardware version you are using, whether V1 or V2.
Tried on 2 machines; no debug output at all. 0.9.0c
Would you let me remote desktop your machine to try and remotely debug it ?
Got a VM setup for some, got an email address and a time you can be on?

I had a spin at testing ... sadly it doesn't work remotely. Need admin privileges otherwise it can't even get a handle on the device. I don't know why Microsoft designed it like this.
That account is an admin account.
Not sure why or how you would be limited.
I don't know it just doesn't work. Can't get a handle on the device. Probably something to do with remote desktop.
